Re: Any Computer Geeks?? Gamers??
I was going to try a few computer games so I got me a Core i7, 32gigs of ram, blah, blah, blah but never really got into it so the system just sits here collecting dust as I use either my laptop or a tablet for everyday tasks.

Re: Will the Sharpmaker work with steels like S110V?
Ummm.....ok.....so do I or don't I want the 204UF rods? I'll grab the diamond rods as suggested above. As for what kind of edge I want, I just want to keep the edge as sharp as possible at all times. So with the diamond rods, are those the only rods I will need to use for the S110V steel blades? Ju...

Re: Sharpening Spyderco's Exotic, Specialty Blades?
Just don't hold your breath for the Gauntlet or any coarser stones to be released. I would be surprised to say the least if that Gauntlet gets released this year at all. If you own a 701 Profle set, never get rid of it as it is sooooo versatile. Everyone I ever got to try out the 701 Profile set lo...

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools
Spyderco's history of their line of Sharpening Equipment is truly a progression of products that are constantly improved upon. The GOLDENSTONE, The DUCKFOOT, The 204 Sharpmaker have all had tools preceed them which were by all indications pretty good sharpening tools themselves. Even the 401 small/...

Re: Spyderco's Specialty Sharpening Tools
Sir Mike there are two of Spyderco's older sharpening tools that I've always said were two of Spyderco's best kept secrets and they are the 701 Profiles of course and the "Cat's Eye" ceramic stones they used in the older, late 1990s era GALLEY V sharpening kit. Those "Cat's Eye"...

Seeing I have been scarce around here, is there any word on some new sharpening gear coming out soon? Thx Hey good to see you back again Sir Mike>> I sort of wondered where you ran off to :) The biggest news release I've gotten on Spyderco's upcoming sharpening equipment is the GAUNTLET Sharpening ...

Re: Ceramic Bench Stone
I see where folks that hone get into a bunch of different stones to do this with. Setups like 600, 1k, 3k, 5k, 10k and 20k. The same thing can easily be seen in sharpening knives. There are people who take ~hour to sharpen a knife and use literally a dozen grit transitions. To produce the finest fi...

Re: Ceramic Bench Stone
Can these ceramics be used to hone a straight razor? That is the reason why Sal made them originally for himself. Does only the medium and fine 701MF or Sharpmaker stones provide enough progression to sharpen the straight enough? I see where folks that hone get into a bunch of different stones to d...

Re: Ceramic Bench Stone
Can these ceramics be used to hone a straight razor? Currently I only have the Sharpmaker and the 701MF set and would like to be able to hone a straight razor once I get one and try it out. If I end up liking to shave that way I will need to strop/hone the razor!
Thx.
Thx.

Re: Question concerning Sharpmaker Triangle
The coarse stones of the sharpmaker aren't really that coarse. Is this Gauntlet coming out anytime soon or just a rumor? Oh Yes indeed the GAUNTLET is in the Spyderco Pipeline for sure. Because it was Sal himself that chimed in this last autumn, just before Thanksgiving on one of the threads and to...

Re: Question concerning Sharpmaker Triangle
The coarse stones of the sharpmaker aren't really that coarse. So if your knife is actually 25 degrees it will take a very long time to get them to 20 degrees with the standard stones. This is where Cliff is suggesting the diamond stone. From personal experience I 100% agree with Cliff about gettin...
