Re: "Beater Knife" - I don't get it...
+1 for use on shingles. I always carry a knife and I'm always willing to use said knife as needed but if I know it's going to be a job like shingles, or a good example was a couple of weeks ago I had to cut some weed guard out from in between layers of limestone and decorative stone. The blade surel...

Re: Para 2.... thick
I like the current thickness, and I contour the scales myself. Gives the knife a very different feel. Any number of custom scale makers can make you a set of thicker contoured scales though. I've bought a couple of sets,( ZT0550 and Delica) from g10it. He does great work, good price and pretty fast....

Brous Bionic XL
Much darker than their pic but in a good way. It's not quite as dark as it appears in my pic, but closer to my pic than KSF's Really liking it. Fixed the sharpening notch by turning it into a choil as I did on my Bionic 2.0- Sun Apr 16, 2017 7:27 pm

Re: Is there anyone else interested?
Check out Smock Knives SK23. Not sure it's quite a front flipper, perhaps top flipper? Anyways I love mine and it uses a button activated compression lock licensed from Spyderco. Kevin said somewhere that he gave one to Eric at a show so perhaps we might be lucky enough to see something like it from...

This IMG_0518.JPG And not in the mail yet but hopefully soon, my custom slipjoint from K'roo. I already have my "Chunky Drunk", (my idea, his design) that he snuck in ahead because he was excited about it! If you need a caplifter/prytool this is one awesome piece! I wanted something withou...

Re: The Advocate - An Official Statement from Spyderco
I'm glad that they are addressing the issues with the Advocate. I was on the fence on this one, something about the handle put me off although I love the blade. I held off and started to hear the complaints. I have a Mantra, if I close it with the least possible pressure needed, I can fell the bumpi...

Re: Knife collecting dilemma/ plateau
I've got a Pipsqueak, it's neat but never sees any carry. Not lefty friendly, weak detent, big and heavy for the length, surprisingly good slicer with a great hollow grind however. Going to be gifting that one to my wife's uncle,(he really likes that knife). I've also got a zdp Dragonfly and it's a ...

Re: Favorite EDC/BOB makers
Canada so no guns here but I carry this little back pocket pouch I had made by MacGregor Customs. I keep some first aid stuff in the truck and of course the house. I'm pretty boring, married,(that's the wife on the pouch)2 young kids so I'm never far from either. I find having multi tool, light and ...

Re: Does anyone EDC a slipit, if so what are your reasons? Pros/cons. Thanks in advance
I've got the orange wharnie urban. To be honest when I got it I was a bit disappointed, you see I've been carrying GEC slipjoints and the urban doesn't seem to have the same action or feel. I put it aside for a while, but one day when getting ready for the beach I realized a 1095 clipless knife wasn...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Just got this today, I've read a lot of good things about the Rat1 but couldn't get aus8 after being spoiled by Spyderco's steel choices. I really like D2 however and gave up talking myself out of picking one up. I really like it out of the box, super sharp, even grinds, f&f excellent, feels sol...

You might want to email him and see if he's got any left from last show? If not, He might be willing to do one when he starts his next batch of whatever seeing as how a fixed blade would be a quick one for him to sneak in...

Re: Recommend custom knife maker
Smock Knives SK9. His books are closed but he seems to have little windows where he lets a few people in when he starts a run whether it's someone's spot who backed out or what I don't know. He works in 3v, my SK23 is 3v and whomever does his heat treat got it right.
