It is not so much cops we are worried about, as much as other people who a knife might upset. There are some people who have professions where they can't have a casual attitude towards upseting the boss, co-workers, or clients. In that setting low ride clips are sort of a polite way to carry your kn...

Years ago, I was into working dogs and their training, and this shaped my thoughts on this subject. First line of defense is body langage and posture. Strong but not aggressive, give the dog an out but don't be prey. Running is always a no no, this tiggers the prey instinct of the dog. Always face t...

When going to countries in the Developing World, as some have noted, self defense is not a consideration. Being sentenced to life as a foreigner in a third world prison might be worse than death... Anyway. In most developing nations, cutting tools (especially machetes) are common particularly in the...

Mark, Good to "see" ya bud. It's been a few years huh? I never would have guessed you for a slippy lover. I am too actually. I may have to pick one of these up. I've been on the fence for a while. How does the N690Co hold up? It is supposed to be better than 154CM but I have no experience...

Pingo Vs. Really Big Box

Got my Pingo a few weeks ago, and have been using it during that time. Now up front I have to tell you I love slipjoints and I especially love the UKPK. If you don't have one, why not? Anyway, got the Pingo in and really found it interesting. About a week in, I was breaking down a box for recycling,...

As for marketing, there is very little marketing done to the general population for knives from basically any manufacturer. Mostly done in trade publications and outdoor media if done at all. Most casual knife buyers are going to buy first from a big box retailer, then maybe a big box outdoor retail...

Markg Not saying it was your fault, but for regular production easy-to-find models, I definitely recommend going with one of the many great authorized retailers. Howe's, Cutlery Shoppe, Knifeworks to name a few. They're all small businesses that care about their customers, and many here have had gr...

Got a Pingo in the mail. Hope this works better than the last Spyderco I had coming. The label of the package came off in transit, and the post office delivered the label in a damaged parcel envelope. The rub they scan the label and it shows it as "delivered" on summary forms of tracking (...

I always wanted a Rookie when they first came out years ago, got one of the sprints and frankly it was one of those knives that you always wanted and maybe you had too high of expectations. For me it was just a touch too small. This was in the day before the 50/50 choil that make smaller knives work...

Gotta say I love this thread. Mr. Walker, big fan from back in the "Fighting Knives" days. It was a good day when it showed up on the newsstand. Much of my current love of knives came out of that magazine.

I am waiting for this knife, should be great.
