Re: Para 3 with CTS 204P River's Edge - New Shipment
I'll do business with REC in the future, I've had nothing but good interactions with them. Let's be realistic here, they could just as easily had a slow-seller like the Delica exclusive at St. Nick's Knives. It isn't always easy or obvious to know what the market will go bonkers for. When this firs...

Re: Para 3 with CTS 204P River's Edge - New Shipment
I prefer their site to some others, honestly. There's no easy way to release a product when the demand is this high, someone is always going to feel left out.

Re: Para 3 with CTS 204P River's Edge - New Shipment
Snagged one! My first Para 3, wanted a unique one and this is definitely that. I regret not jumping on the CF/52100 version when it was on Ebay with the 15% code, that was a steal but I already have two other knives in that setup. Hopefully this scratches my Para 3 itch

Re: Does anybody else really dislike the look of spyderco knives?
I just cant get over how gross it looks, I hate how much wider it is and how its shaped with the hole in it. Am I the only one? Disliked the appearance at first, but love it now... except when the knives aren’t designed/finished well. Some knives have overly sharp holes or exposed tangs or somethin...

Re: New fixed blade - need help
My thoughts:
Use some good, inexpensive low carbide steels like AEB-L or 14C28N with a nice rockwell hardness. Outside of that, my only other issue with the normal mule team blades was that the spine on the blade was a bit sharper than I'd like.

Re: Which Para 3 to choose?
My understanding is that Maxamet is not a sprint, but is actually production (probably limited production). Wow, you're right. My mistake. I totally thought it was a sprint since it is out of stock everywhere. Well thanks for the info, looks like I should just wait for the next round of them then. ...

Re: Which Para 3 to choose?
Do you mean the Maxamet sprint from earlier this year? The REX45 and 52100 will be easier to obtain. Most people ask more than retail for their Maxamet's which I believe was ~$185. But that dark gray with a black clip is a very attractive setup. I have actually been looking for one myself. My under...

Re: 52100 / CF Para 3
So are we thinking that this knife will be a Sprint run and hence available from a number of retailers, or is this a New Graham commissioned exclusive? I own a few exclusives, but no actual Sprint, and never got in on any knife at the time of its release, but this is one I absolutely MUST have, and...

Re: I need a new PM2
What are your priorities in a steel? Sometimes minute differences in the steel composition make for incredibly different steels. As an EDC steel, CTS XHP is one of my personal favorites and Cruwear is right there with it. Good balance of being easy enough to sharpen while having good enough toughne...

Re: 2018 Spyderco Forum Knife! Info & Sign-up
Who designs the forum knife? Is it voted on in the forum? We had a big discussion about it a while ago, but that seems to have been overlooked or ignored by whoever designed it. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with what is practical for them to produce as fitting something into a production schedule...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.
I agree, if you want a knife to abuse... get one ground for it and don’t keep the edge overly acute. Or... as I usually say, keep a mini pry bar on you. Why would you want a knife to perform far worse just for a situation that may never happen? I suppose if you don’t cut much it makes sense... Ther...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.
Edge/apex stability determines how acute your edge angle can be. High carbide steels typically are sharpened to around 15DPS, but with some steels you can get under 10 without a problem. They will cut better. The toughness of 3V is mostly just going to be a benefit if you’re prying or batoning and ...

Re: S90v PPT Sprint
Carbon fiber handles that are machined with a great pattern, S90V steel, and limited edition... this is honestly one of the best value knives Spyderco makes. The prices for all models have risen quite a lot since the last PPT release. I really like the knife but found out the hard way if you keep it...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.
And that's the misunderstanding that the 3v is more stable but it will roll and blunt much faster at a folding knife geometry while 4v will just hold it's shape better. How people use the term edge stability is that it just holds it's edge/shape, it doesn't chip OR roll. It's just stable. Edge/apex...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.
There are better steels for most knives for most people. 3V maximizes toughness in a steel with similar to S30V edge holding but worse corrosion resistance. What knives that Spyderco sells really need that level of toughness outside of fixed blades (which now come in M390 variants)? CPM Cruwear, M4 ...

Re: Can I ask you lot something?
Time is money, and also being efficient is rewarding. Knives that are capable of one handed opening define speed of deployment. No one would rather a two handed knife when time counts, be it someone breaking down pallets or a contactor on a ladder, for example. While this is accurate, it's also a r...

Re: Very DISAPPOINTED w/ laminated steel sprint runs
The only disappointment I feel in the laminations is that they are such soft, scratchable 410 stainless. Lamination with, at the MINIMUM, 420 or preferably higher wear resistance steels would preclude this problem. On heavy user knives, scratches don't matter, but if someone wants to designate a la...
