Re: FRN or FRCP? What's the difference?
- To me FRCP feels "harder", "more brittle, "more like plastic", FRN a bit "softer", "tougher", a bit "more like rubber". But that said: Golden FRN for me "feels" to be between FRCP and Seki FRN concerning the above "properties&q...

Re: OLIGHT flashlight fans: Recall Notice
Has anyone tried filling out the online form to get a replacement. I ask because I did, and kept getting a message saying the serial number I was entering was incorrect. M2R Pro Warrior SN.jpg Tried entering it as 06523, SN06523, O6523, and SNO6523 without success. Then tried sending my request to t...

Re: FRN Strength / Durability
Different amount of fiberglass in the Nylon could perhaps also explain what has been discussed in this thread before: That to some/many people Seki FRN "feels" different to Golden FRN (Seki a bit "softer/tougher/rubber-isher," Golden "harder"/more "brittle"/m...

Re: FRN Strength / Durability
As for strength, depends on what you're looking at. I my experience, FRN will deform, rather than break. For example, I can take the FRN panel from a Stretch 2 handle, bend it until the ends touch, and it will spring back to flat. If I did that often enough, it would eventually stress fracture, but ...

Re: FRN Strength / Durability
But it does say in the article that it was resistant to things such as hot oil. Guess that would depend on how hot the "hot oil" is. 250º F, no problem. 300º F, maybe. Much higher, I wouldn't risk it but YMMV. My observations were based on personal experience and things I've seen on this ...

From what I can gather from this, it means that FRN should be heat resistant. I think this makes sense, as I don't really...

Re: New Tenacious a FAKE?!
Thanks a lot Paul! The tang markings and the maker’s mark actually look just like the photo you posted so I guess I’m ok. Still puzzled by the stiffness. Guess like everything else they don’t make ‘em like they used to. Have a good one! Bill Or, it could just be that you got one that's a bit stiffe...

Re: New Tenacious a FAKE?!
Can't say for sure if it's real, but the "E" is probably Eric Glesser's "makers mark" and tang marking change over time, sometimes they wear out, sometimes a maker switches from stamping to laser engraving. https://cdn.brandfolder.io/YLOLU61B/as/pxxmgb-a9ou20-nf8ia/C122SBK_Both.p...

In a month or so it will be 13 years I've been retired. During that time I'd estimate I could count the number of days I've worn something other than jeans on one hand.

Re: For those who post photos - Phone or "Real" camera?
My phone is a landline, so no photo capability. My camera is a 10+ year old Nikon D60 DSLR, so it's no match for the cameras in today's phones. I crop, edit, and resize the resultant photos in Google Picasa.

Only one I can think of is the original C54 Calypso. Bought one and, a while later, gifted it to a friend who admired it. Year or so after that I bought another one, which later wound up being sent off to another friend and, a couple years later, purchased the one I have now.

Re: Interesting Discussion About Pocket Clips On Another Forum
Only knives I ever keep the clip on are automatics, especially OTF autos. Been carrying a pocket knife loose in my back pocket for 50 years when I finally discovered Spyderco, thought the round hole opener was the greatest invention since sliced bread, but saw no need to change how I carried my knife.

VG-10 would be #1 by a mile. The four behind that, in no particular order, would be S30V, MBS-26, GIN-1, and AUS-8

Nice catch, Paul Your a big Beretta guy but do you like 1911's? Yes, I do. Can't beat a good 1911 for paper punching. Right now I've got a Sig Emperor Scorpion .45, a GSG .22, and some 1911 parts from back in the day. Problem is, I keep comparing every 1911 that I handle nowadays to my old 1967 vin...
