I'm not sure his love of angles would translate well into a comb. I'd love to see what he would come up with, though.

I wonder if G10 or FRN would work for the tines...

Re: native 5 frn or g10?

For suit pants an FRN lightweight Native makes the most sense. It's more compact, lighter in weight, and more gentlemanly in design. While the pocket clip is not as aesthetic as the wire clip on the Manix, it will provide better retention in thin material from what I've found. The current Maxamet mo...

Re: Native pocket clip

A wire clip seems only natural on the lightweight offerings. Using the standard clip is like building a light Lamborghini and then attaching a real bull for the emblem.

Re: Back lock Paramilitary?

I've been pinched many times, but it's not bad enough for me to care. If you hold the knife below the lock when opening there's no pinch. However, if you do the pinching it can't pinch you back.

Re: Black Blade (TiCN coated) Lil' Matriarch

The Lil' curve is far less pronounced than the full sized model. It's almost a Wharncliffe and tasman combined. I think it would be right at home in the Salt family.

You could Rit dye an orange FRN model navy blue pretty easily, I would imagine. A yellow Salt would be even easier.

Civilian and Matriarch model number

It seems to me the Civilian and Matriarch are technically different models. The blade shapes are a bit different. The Civilian is only G10 and the Matriarch is only FRN. The Matriarch is available with Emerson opener feature, whereas the Civilian is not. Why, then, do both models fall under the C12 ...

Re: Need Identification Help Please

Hi OldHobbes, Our "Hunter" model which came out in '83 went through a number of refinements over the years and ended up being the Stretch 2. The one you have looks like the 2nd generation blade shape. sal It's amazing how revolutionary the design appears even now, both this knife and the ...

Re: Wharncliffe Delica Handle Swap?

Well, I guess I just much prefer FRN to G10. The custom scales I got and modded and smoothed feel great, but I needed FRN for this knife. So, I swapped them to blue. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad297/billy-jazz/1B8BC5EE-1A47-4C29-A183-EBE85E2B376B_zpsqw4crnuw.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/...

Re: Battle of the 3" Blades: Delica4, Sage1/5, Native5, Para3, Chaparral

For me it's the Delica, hands down.

1. It's the most-affordable option
2. The blade shape is a better all-around shape for day-to-day
3. It doesn't tend to be as scary to the ignorant masses
4. It's available in many colors so there's less chance of clashing with my shoes

I carry in the top of my front pocket. It's a normally-unused area that's more in my peripheral view than in the "traditional" place for a folder.

And what is it we are trying to fix with the current Manix 2?? Sal can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the backlock is going to replace the CBBL model. The backlock is just another offering for those who do not prefer the CBBL (strange as that is). Besides, the original Manix was a backl...
