13 hours 52 minutes for me from Dallas. But the more you "buy" the more you "save", right? I would just have to buy enough knives that the savings would surpass what I'd spend on gas! Good thing I have a pickup, just fill up the back with knives, right? :)

Wow, glad you weren't seriously injured with the knife poking out through the sheath. That is something I am even LESS confident about, is building my sheath, but I ordered both Kydex and Concealex (along with several different materials to try for the handles) and hope to fashion something workable...

Interesting that you tied a thread to the opening-hole of one of the blades, is that so that you can tell which blade is the PE by feel in the pocket? I just obtained a Byrd Wings this week myself (hard to pass up for $27! ) and it is my first knife with G10 scales, feels nice, although I haven't pu...

Looks like my Mule Team purchase may end up costing me more than I expected: I ordered some materials to make handles and sheaths from, but while I'm waiting for that to be delivered, I thought I would go ahead try to make some wood scales; I'm having a harder time than I thought I would just trying...

Mine has seen some light duty, carry occasionally (but usually *in* my pocket rather than clipped where it is visible). I haven't had to sharpen it yet - and we all know it will be easy to tell when the forum knives have been sharpened since the laser etching goes all the way to the edge :) . In my ...

I didn't care for the looks of the Chokwe at all when I first saw it, but man, I think it is growing on me! This darn forum is terrible on my pocketbook!

Comparable to which other steels?

According to the first post in this thread, the Mule's steel ( 9Cr18Mo ) reaches a HRc of 58-62 Does anyone have an idea how that might compare to other steels Spyderco uses? I guess the quality of the heat-treat would make a difference? I'm just curious if it would come out similar to say VG10, or ...

I couldn't help myself, I ordered 4 of them to qualify for free shipping, guess I'll get plenty of practice making handles and sheaths!

As I understand it, the Mule knives do not include handle material or sheaths. Do most of you plan to just wrap the handle in paracord, or do you know of a good source for getting micarta or G10 or other handle material in small quantities, and kydex (I'm not planning on going into business making h...

Thank God I'm not married, don't have to justify my knife purchases to anyone! Of course, the bank still expects me to actually have enough money in my account to cover the charges... Some of you guys have so many blades, there is now way I'll ever catch up :) I don't think I'll have any "safe ...

Man, you guys sure make it difficult to resist jumping online and ordering a caly3 or sage myself! But I have spent too much money already this month on knives, and since I did get a Forum Native, the blade shape wouldn't really give me much difference. I do have a Spyderhawk also on the way, though.

I too have an older Sharpmaker with only one set of holes. I even bought the set of diamond "sleeves" that slid over the sticks for knives that really need repair. Unfortunately that sharpmaker is somewhere in a box with my first two spydercos I bought ages ago, that I can't find at the mo...

Posted here when it gets released?

Will it be posted to this thread when the knife is released? Being subscribed to the thread should make sure I get an email when there is an update and I don't miss it! This should be really popular. It seems like I saw a lot of people liked carrying something like the Boker Subclaw as part of their...

I had two packages waiting for me in the mail when I got home today: my Forum Native, and a RAT Izula :) Going to have fun playing with knives this weekend! This is my 3rd Spyderco, but my other two are "temporarily misplaced" in a box somewhere  I am loving the size/weight/feel of th...

I must say, I feel very fortunate, as I only joined the forum a few days ago. I bought my first Spyderco knife around 20+ years ago I think, but I never knew there was a forum! I lost track of my first two Spydercos (they are in a box with a bunch of my other knives, *somewhere* in this house I hope...
