Re: working around salt water... what steel other than H1 ?

I could only recommend H-1. H-2 might work also because it's one better. But I don't think it's a thing yet.

Re: What are the "hard-use" spyderco FOLDERS?

Here is my list: 1. The original Manix - my favorite go-to knife for hard chores. Nothing fancy about it but it's stout and allows me to gain good leverage without feeling like it's going to fall apart. Many of you have probably not been able to handle this model, as it has been discontinued for awh...

Re: Pricing...huh?

LOL. What exactly am I upset about? I questioned the Bowie's pricing, get over it. I'm a big Spyderco fan, and therefor if I have extra time I go on the forums to discuss knives. If you think anything in this thread has upset me, I strongly suggest you shift your paradigm. Sorry, my sarcasm was too...

Re: Discontinued models for 2015?

Here are the dates for the last 5 years of discontinued list announcements from Kristi: 2014: November 8, 2013 2013: November 14, 2012 2012: December 2, 2011 2011: October 4, 2010 2010: November 17, 2009 Only one year has it been this early... Hope that helps, Radioactive :) It does, and thanks for...

Usually the discontinued list is released in November, if I recall correctly, and late November, at that.

Re: Pricing...huh?

Why are people so concerned about this? Finish work/labor is expensive. Material cost is only one cost. There's material waste to consider, CNC programming, different steps in the finishing process, etc. Spyderco could have simply raised the price of the K2 and you'd never think twice about it. I d...

Re: Pricing...huh?

I get the impression that any question directed at pricing comes as unwelcome to some forum members. I have seen a tendency toward questioning of Spyderco practices being met with a degree of defensiveness by some of our members, and I think that it diminishes the discussion that can be had. We all ...

Re: Got a counterfeit Dragonfly Salt 2 for my birthday.

The last 5 reviews on Amazon of the knife have noted that it is a fake, or is of really crappy quality. Screwdriver's review is also there. It looks like a handful of these have leaked out. I expect that the next outlet will be E-bay if Amazon shuts down the fakes. It's disturbing and angering to se...

Re: CRKT Stubby Pocket Razel Chisel Razor Spyderco comparabl

I was looking at the crkt Stubby Pocket Razel Chisel Razor and looks great for a small fixed blade. I am sure the crkt is a great knife but I just really like Spyderco's. What would compare with Stubby Pocket Razel Chisel Razor? Thanks Kris I think that the closest thing that Spyderco had was the C...

When you say "bring back", does that mean that there was a fully serrated Captain? I don't recall there being one. If there was, we need some pics!

You might have to pardon me for having a slow day mentally but I cannot understand what you are describing, either in your post or via the photo. Re: Comparable Brands

Here is another nod for Al Mar. They are simple, well made, and elegant (in their simplicity). I have handled several, and owned one. Sadly I don't own any now, but there are several I want. New knives are not in the cards for me for awhile due to budget issues versus my other hobbies.

Re: CF Yo 2 sticky comp lock

The sticky compression lock issue has come about here and there with the Para and Para 2 over the years. It happens. As David says above, it usually works itself out over time. Happened with one of my Para 2's and it gradually went away with use.

Re: Fluted Ti Para2 Prototype on the Market?

Is it me, or is anyone else thinking "Chinese-made Ripoff"? TedP If it is a fake, it's an awfully elaborate attempt at one. Given that the seller indicates that it is only one of three made, I am even more suspect that it's not. Ripoff artists would seem inclined to be able to repeat the ...

Re: Old Blue Dodo?

Searching completed Ebay auctions is a good indicator of market value. The blue Dodo circulates through Ebay here and there. I think there are a couple of active auctions going down at present, actually. SpyderNut's estimate is pretty solid based on what I have seen them going for via auction.
