My second Spyderco! Great little knife.
Only the weight had a tendency to make it slip from the pocket, in certain positions.
Loved that blade shape and grind.

Re: Lock type and blade thickness
That's already not true for the Manix 2 Backlock which has a thicker blade than the standard Manix 2 with its ball lock / axis lock system.gaj999 wrote: It seems to me that the thinner-bladed Spydercos are lockbacks.

Re: maxamet native5 or manix2 backlock
All questions of steel and scale material apart, the Native is obviously shorter than the Manix; further, the Manix 2 Backlock has a wider handle than even the standard Manix - so it all boils down to what use you destine your knife, how you intend to carry it and whether the additional girth of the...

Congrats, the Manix 2, whatever the version, is not a safe queen, it's made for hard use.

Re: S30V -> S35VN & BD1 -> BD1N
I used to mind, but the S35VN in my Umnumzaan, ZT900 and ZT450 does not perform noticeably better than the S30v in my Yojimbo2 or PM3. Sharpening wise, I feel spydie's S30v is no hassle, quick to sharpen. Used for normal workhorse tasks, it's always held up to a day's use - it won't handle brushing...

Re: Will Spyderco ever produce a chisel ground folder?
I hope not. I have had, still have, several chisel ground Emerson's and they drive me crazy as far as sharpening goes - beside the already mentioned tendency to drift when cutting. Moreover, apart from the marketing gimmick / supposedly badass image of the chisel grind, what's its real, practical in...

Re: China > Golden ?
Well I've let it be known on several occasions that I have an ultimate affinity for the models made in GOLDEN, CO USA Earth>> those are my ultimate top picks. Second I dearly love the Japanese made Spyders and I own many. I find the quality of both of those manufacturing plants to be my top 2 and I...

Same here, strong blade and comfortable handle make the Manix 2 BackLock a winner IMO.abbazaba wrote:Lately, it's been the Manix2 Backlock. It's a yard work beast!

Re: I'm officially over G10
I love G-10. To me, FRN just feels cheap and plastic-like. On my Mini Grip I swapped the plastic scales for aluminum and it made the knife so much more solid feeling. I feel the same about my G-10 Spydies vs the FRN models. But that's what's so great about Spyderco; there's a knife for everyone's t...

They are laying hens so they get quite a few years of happiness and freedom. :) As long as they are delivering eggs like this they get to keep living the good life. This thread is way off topic so I thought I would put in some Spydie content. :o These hens may not be immediarely threatened, but tha...

Re: Lubes
I have been using Tuf Glide on my pivots for years, easy to apply, no residue, works well. Only the smell is terrible but disappears after one or two days. I don't lube my blades, just a good cleaning with soapy water or alcohol when needed, followed by a thorough drying. Never had any problem with ...
