i'm entering the peace corps, where i'll be working on fisheries in africa. my hope is to bring/send a spydie or two along -- providing i can avoid the wrath and caprices of customs officials. i'd REALLY like to bring a hawkbill blade as a work knife... but the harpy's a bit smaller than i'd prefer,...

complete the peace corps application process (the medical clearance stage takes forever!!!).

chinook II would be good, but HOW could you survive knowing you beat it up?! and sharpening S30V steel might be hard in the "wildernis" unless you stumble across some ceramic stones... also the shape of the blade makes it harder to sharpen. it would depend on how long you're surviving, and...

it might sound a bit odd, but lately my favorite EDC is the pacific salt SE. the H1 steel in SE stays sharp, cuts like crazy seemingly forever, and won't rust. i also don't feel bad using it heavily, because it's not that expensive. i've found it can deliver some pretty intense slashing cuts, and ma...
