Re: Dragonfly H1 Hawkbill for self defence

Since a self-defense knife is essentially fantasy for 99.9999% of people, I'd say there is no wrong choice. If you have studied martial arts, as I have, and 5 guys try to break every bone in your body, as they have, then a pocket knife knife works like magic. Been there. Done that. I must be in the...

Re: Zdp future plans

I like the premium and super steels. It's the number one reason why I come to this forum and take a look at what people are talking abt several times a week. Spyderco is a leader in use of steels and using high end steels. I'm down for more ZDP-189...and any other premium and super steel Sal wants t...

Re: What's the best Spyderco that doesn't exist?

There might be a dozen different designs that Spyderco could do with collaborations.

- ESEE Junglass style machete in 3V
- Emerson style Karambit in M390
- Buck 119 style knife in S35VN
- Winkler / Jason Knight style Pathfinder knife in 4V

Re: New fixed blade - need help

Hi all, I'm considering a "Mule Team" style fixed blade as a permanent model for the line. It won't be many steels, maybe a couple of variations, but it will be a finished knife. Handle & sheath. Highly functional. The Mule Team served its purpose well. I had come up with some improve...

Re: Owners of the Jumpmaster 2 - What do you use it for?

I was looking for a concealable knife to carry if things "get worse" and that knife probably be the fully serrated Jumpmaster 2 in H1. If the SHTF I'll don a dual carry Universal Blade Rig system from BRT BLADEWORKS (Ben Tendick) and carry two RMJ double edged Black Raider Daggers in 3V.

I'm down for one. The stonewash does not bother me in any way and I'd prefer it vastly over a DLC blade.

Re: Against the grain...

Before I discovered the Spyderco Jumpmaster 2 I asked Mr Veff what it would cost to commission him to put serrations along the entire base of a Bark River Knives Bravo 3 knife in 3V. He did not seem too thrilled with the idea. I bought the Spyderco Jumpmaster 2 the day that I discovered it. Serratio...

Re: Street Beat Lightweight in M390?

Has Spyderco ever done anything in 80CrV2 carbon steel? I don't recall anything. Might be interesting. I own 4 - 80CrV2 knives with Caswell finishes from Winkler Knives (primarily Jason Knight designs, PLUS the Recon and Belt Knife in 3V ) and I love them as collector items but I have not yet put th...

I would buy a hap40 version.
Who has reliable talking points on Hap40? I have not looked, but nothing has ever jumped out at me. I know nothing abt it.

Zdp is the only answer ;)
I'm with you on that. That would be fantastic, but I give it a 1% chance.

Street Beat Lightweight in M390?

I like this knife and will probably buy it in VG10, but to me it is screaming for a higher grade steel. I suggested M390, but it could be anything from S35VN, CPM-20CV, K390....

Looks like a great knife!

Re: WooHoo! Jumpmaster in LC200N!

I do not have industrial systems to impart the serrations creating the hardening process, and they are bound to be in the low 50 HRC, hence my request for a better steel like S110V. That's an interesting point. It makes me wonder how deep into the steel the work hardening of H1 goes, and how long i...

Re: WooHoo! Jumpmaster in LC200N!

Although I missed Sal's post, I could see that H1 was undergoing hardening when serrations were being applied. The video from Eric said it hit 60 to 67HRC, which is quite good. My only problem is when I sharpen the serrations on the current Jumpmaster 2 with H1 I do not have industrial systems to im...

Re: WooHoo! Jumpmaster in LC200N!

FFG? The serrations are what make it cut. Then why do you want LC200N? Sal has stated here that nothing comes close to H1 in edge retention when it's serrated. H1 is also more corrosion resistant than LC200N. LC200N offers near H1 level corrosion resistance, but much better edge retention in plain ...
