You might be interested in researching the diet of our American forefathers. Haha, I've been subscribed to Jas Townsend's Youtube channel since its start. I'd argue it's about the best thing out there on this exact topic, as he actually makes the recipes and visits the sites of the American forefat...

Jeez Ferris, I just watched youtube, and I think I have a new calling as a safecracker. That was a whole bunch of real-world that I wasn't ready for. It's like when I found out what I can write off as business expenses on taxes. Thanks for saving me a lot of false security... and money! Edited to in...

I ended up out at the Albany range trying guns, and I ended up with a Marlin 336BL. It's a fun little gun.

I think what tends to happen with many foreign cuisines is they try to cater to the generally bland western palate and consequently lose their authenticity and flavour. And sometimes, like in the case of legit Mandarin Chinese food, the other cultures don't eat those parts of the animal - the...

Here's hoping Sal brings the kitchen knife he tried it on to the OKCA like he did with the Hap-40 santoku I got from him a few years ago. That still may be the best knife deal I've ever gotten.

Also, I'm in.

Re: SuperStar Spyders Never Recognized

And both models being Eric Glesser designs at that. It's not coincidence that Eric's designs take a bit to catch on. His designs are frequently ergonomics and function over aesthetics, and so he frequently deviates from convention with what people expect from knives. People, and more specifically m...

Re: SuperStar Spyders Never Recognized

I think that a lot of the knives that don't look like a conventional straight-bladed knife don't get recognized. People label them as a gimmick, or as "tacticool" without holding or using them. Ultimately, I end up trying to pick many of the models like that up when they go on clearance be...

There are plenty of self-inflicted problems here. A generation ago, my dad fought a war to keep communist markets and capitalist markets separate. Heck, a half-generation before that, his uncles were fighting the same fight in a different country. Then Nixon comes along, and opens capitalist market...

The Poliwog changed my view of knives in general. I thought it was butt ugly when I first saw it in A.G. Russell. Years later, I was scouring shows for them. It's a great knife.

I too am a Glock fan, my 19 or 43 is always near. Guns and knives just seem to go together. ;) If you have a 43, and an Introvert, overlay the two and take a look at how ergonomics end up how they end up independent of the researcher and bada$$ company making the thing. I love my 43. I've had a few...

Re: How do you handle the casual 'check out my knives!' folk?

Generally, I look at their knife. I don't say much other than "nice knife." Frequently, I will investigate sharpness. If they ask if it is sharp, I will answer them honestly. Generally, I don't offer to do anything other than look. Sometimes, someone shows me something really great. Then, ...

That will work. You will want to clean the blade with alcohol and keep all fingerprints off of the surface before the dunk, otherwise your fingerprints will be etched in there.
