Shark and Carnivore Experiences?
I'm just wondering, since many here have had alot of cool outdoors experiences, hunting, diving, swimming, etc, what have been some of your experiences or encounters with carnivorous predators, such as sharks, grizzly bears, wolves, and the like? PS: I know bears also eat alot of vegetation food. Ei...

Re: Janisong not available in US?
What a dispicable, assanine witch hunt to harass Spyderco and other companies over a knife-mechanism. God bless all the people at Spyderco, and keep on supporting them. Buy those excellent knives =) I'm glad some states have lifted these bans. The Janisong looks like it can combine the power of a ba...

The Aqua Salt Black.
I am so glad that one is in there.

One of the kitchen knives looks good, too.

Re: Double guards
I would also add, the Japanese tsuba-type guard for swords, and knives, is very useful, and is efficient, too.

Re: Double guards
Regarding the Sub-Hilt concept, I think those are useful for extra grippability, I could be wrong. Regarding a knife, dagger, or sword with a true cross-guard type of guard, aside from any cosmetic use, it was used as a catch to protect the hands when an opponent's blade came sliding against and dow...

Re: Don't Call it a Pocketknife? Ignorance and Prejudice Dis
Good points all around, folks. This reminds me of a conversation I had about this very topic with a person who is actually highly intelligent, resourceful, and an all-around great person to hang out with. I got around to discussing knives, and Spyderco knives in particular. The person actually owns,...

First of all, xinam, welcome to the forum and thank you for your input on the knives. Second, I like your idea. There are many uses for prybars, in everyday work situations, and, emergencies.

What if noone died or could die?
What would the world and human history be like if people had the same basic nature and mindsets, but, physically, noone could ever die or be physically damaged? Say your body and the bodies of all human beings who had ever been born in the entire history of the world, right up to this present day, g...

Re: Don't Call it a Pocketknife? Ignorance and Prejudice Dis
Great post, JD, and others! I wish more people saw things like you do on this issue. Do you think if we were to somehow poll every single or most every American, European, and person worldwide, and ask them, the majority, if they had the time to think it through, would tend to agree, that the proble...

Re: Roadsters, Mid-Engines, and other Cars: Interesting!
It minds me of this video I saw where an auto mechanic showed his garage and his hands and such after working on standard combustion engines, and, after working on an all-electric car. He showed how clean his hands and equipment were, no grease stains, and all that. Ofcourse, some people may, as som...

And notice the hypocrisy: I do not want to make this political, or, be disrespectful, but, the fact is: Notice the same Anti-Weapon/Anti Knife/Anti Gun people, they have no problem with their own people being armed to the teeth, its when others such as everyday citizens are. Example: Left winger pol...

Glock Knives and AG Russell Sting Knives
Has anyone here owned and used Glock field knives? They seem to be one of the best quality in the world. The steel is made in Austria. Gaston Glock knows his weapon and tool steels. Interestingly, for a field knife, is that a hollow grind on it? Eickhorn of Solingen, Germany, is a good knife maker: ...

Roadsters, Mid-Engines, and other Cars: Interesting!
I was reading a bit about the old roadsters and also mid-engine cars. The mid engine apparently allows better weight distribution, and is safer in some respects, to forward engine vehicles, has a better center of gravity, and can be safer. The sacrifice is in the rear-passenger space; most are two s...

Great Steel Page by Mike Carter
Here is a good page about different knife and blade steels, and it has good info on Damascus Steel, too.

Based on this, it seems Spyderco has the perfect balance of carbon and other elements in the steel.

Damascus Steel question
How do factory knife makers/catalogs sell "Damascus steel" knives at relatively low prices (under ~100 dollars)? Is this "authentic" in the sense of actual forged-laminated steel done with cheap labor, or, is this a cosmetic-surface treatment done to the steel and it is simply ca...
