Re: Spyderco Double Bevel Question

I believe the bubble wrap is to take up space so the knife doesn't move around in the box. Larger models can't fit very well with the wrap, and really they don't require it for a snug fit. I'm pretty sure I have some Seki specimens that came in a plain bag. I want to say my Stretch came that way, bu...

Sounds good to me. I recently drank your Kool-ade and purchased both PE and SE Wharncliffe Delicas. Now, I say Wharncliffe all the things!

If it's sharp I would just use it. Eventually, you'll work out the grinds with normal sharpening and reprofiling as needed.

Re: Which knives would you like to see in XL size?

I, too, would like to see more love for the Manix XL. Sprints would be fine, maybe Cru-wear with stone G10, or Maxamet of some color.

Did you swim out of Mark's? I saw a picture of some people fishing in Lake 31.

I'm very excited by the Shaman, too. I've also got my eye on the Cru-wear Para 3, although it appears to be a darker grey than I was expecting.

I can't help with the clip, but the second one appears to be an Economy or Standard model, which is C05.

Re: Are there any serrated wharnie Delica fans out there ?

I have both the SE and PE versions. Personally, I find SE to be more task-specific, so the SE doesn't see too much use. However, I know it should be capable of the same performance as the PE, so maybe I'll give it more opportunities to shine.

Re: Question on Manix 2 Lock

I like the Manix 2, and my favorite personally owned knife is my Manix 2XL. Both have CBBLs, and I own both, but I would really love a switch to a plain Ball Bearing Lock for these knives. It would eliminate all worry about the potential for the polymer cage breaking. And come on, there is not a kn...

Re: Curious about strength and durability of ceramic BBL

I have a Manix 2 and a Manix 2XL. Honestly, since I've never taken them apart, I don't even know what kinds of ball bearings they have. If you look in between the handle scales with the blade not locked or closed, you can see the stainless steel-looking bearing ball. Cool, yep, there it is! :) Now ...

Re: Question on Manix 2 Lock

From what I've seen, the issues with the cage breaking were mostly from the older clear cages. While I'm sure the black cages have had issues, I don't think it's nearly as prevalent as with the clear cages. Mine feels solid and I have no reason to believe it would ever break.

Re: First Para 3

I used to think the Para 3 looked like a bodged attempt at shortening a Para 2. It was not worthy of being in the Para family, I said. Now, I can't get the Cru-wear sprint off my mind. Failing that, there's always the Maxamet.

Re: How good is maxamet steel for edc?

I just purchased a Maxamet Native 5, which is my first Native. It is, by far, the sharpest Spyderco out-of-the-box I've ever seen. I don't have corrosion issues with my EDCs because I don't get to carry them but on weekends and days off. However, if carried in as dry a manner as possible I don't thi...

Re: Short Clip on Delica

I'm not sure about the Delica, but the clip on my Native falls just past the logo area. As such, clipping and removing is a bit rough on my pocket due to the points trying to grab hold of the material. If you're looking at a titanium clip you'll have a bit of spring that allows you to lift the clip ...

I haven't heard that, but it would be awesome. I'm surprised BBS hasn't commissioned something like that.

Re: Sage 5 torx screw ?

There was a big todo about Spyderco's use of red thread lock recently and they have switched to a lower-strength solution. If you can't remove the screws you can send the knife back to Spyderco and they will loosen them for you.

That's a fact, Jack. Both of my Rescues are the smoothest back locks I've ever tried. They rival the Manix, in fact.

That's an option for sure, however I have a Paramilitary 2 and don't find myself carrying it that often.
Is it the design, or the size?
