Re: H1

Further, with serrations, they make short work of some more aggressive cooking / prepping chores but then a few swipes on uf stones and they can slice nicely for food eating.

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

Funny thing is I recently traded away one of my Leatherman MT's, and around the same time I lost track of my Rebar. Recently found it and had to put it back in my pocket. https://i.imgur.com/ZXW03Kn.jpg Rebar is my favorite multi tool. I keep a surge in my bag and a swisstool in my car, but the Reb...

Catchermans are much longer than Enduras.
The Catcherman is a very cool knife. I see them pop up now and again but I really don't want AUS8.

Re: H1

Ceramic plates really do beat an edge up.

Recommend taking the edge down to around 15 degrees. I also recommend leaving it coarse. Maybe probably stop at the "fine" kme diamond stone. The "coarse" may be too coarse

Nah, keep the delica Japanese made. Keep the lineage intact.

Just replace zdp189 for something different.

What I would like to see is a Delica with a steel upgrade made a regular production knife. I would like a nice color, too, like Denim or Flat Dark Earth.
I wish Hap40 was standard

Re: I might be a heretic!

It is hard beating the delica! I try and try. I tried with the Polestar. Nope. I've been trying with the Native 5 lw. Nope. Chaparral LW. Nope. Para 3. Nope. All my knives from other brands in that size and use range: Nope. For it's blade size, I have not found a general edc knife that I prefer more...

Re: Does sharing with others help justify our addictions?

One piece of advice I'll give you is Spyderco has made a lot of great models over the years and you can find them all on ebay in some cases for relatively nothing. If you're hard up for cash I'd take a stroll thru the Spydercos of yesteryear and find something you like rather than blowing money on ...

Re: Would you prefer if Spyderco boxes were improved in any way?

Yeah, I gave up on trying to keep boxes. They all look like **** so I figured it wouldn't help me trade or sell to present it in a beat up box. Thicker boxes would be nice. Otherwise, I don't care about presentation. I don't need fancy $20 packaging or a zip case or cleaning cloth (though I do alway...

Re: I've decided, (bleep) it, I'm, gonna carry my "nice" knife, replacement be damned...

Oddly enough, the only knives I really buy backups for are the great lower cost knives that I use and use and use. I have probably 6 delicas, albeit they are all different. Same with pm2's--I have three different(okay so this isn't a lower cost model). I have two copies of my gec bullmoose in green ...

Re: Got one of those CIVIVI knives

I'm usually not either but I've gear 9cr is decent and with a heat treat between 59-60, it can't be terrible. I was just hankering to try some of these new budget knives. With all the real steel, bestech, ruike, etc on the market now, there's a lot of choices. This seemed like a good one to try. Al...

Got one of those CIVIVI knives

This is the first non-spydie I've bought in a while. I was attracted to it becuase, despite my expensive collection, I do enjoy finding a good knife in the $40-$80 dollar range. There was a lot of hype for these and that got my attention. The features are nice: made by WE, a very quality manufacture...

Re: Fist in the Eye

S30v may have been the compromise to get people to buy it. A lot of people are afraid of high carbon and a lot of non-afi types want to see the words "powder metallurgy" or "super steel". I'd still buy it in s30v if I was in the market for a puukko. That said, I'd prefer O1, A2, ...

The two I'm hankering for this year already came out: Hanan and Bouwer.

Next year it will be about the frn police.
