Re: Something I do not understand about the Chaparral

I guess I'm extra wimpy, since the one I bought direct from Spyderco a couple of weeks ago came with a slight chamfer. They at least get kudos for CQI!

I've since found a way to correct and they're both much better now.

Care to share? Did you bend the spring?

Well Dan...all I can say is we're all different and not all knives are the same.

Re: Something I do not understand about the Chaparral

the clip grooves were too shallow I find that to be true. The other day my clip was loose and not gripping my pocket very well. When I tried to tighten it, I noticed the screw was already as tight as I could get it, but the wire had scooted out of the channel a bit. I loosened the screw, re-seated ...

Re: Something I do not understand about the Chaparral

I'll jump in since I made a similar complaint in a recent post. No, I don't think the lock is painful. Yes, I do think it's uncomfortable...WHEN (and only when) I sit and fidget it with it a bit. It's probably not the norm for most people, and I probably have something wrong with me for playing with...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

I used my Native 5 LW with S110V to open a 3-pack of soap bars.

Add some more black to the top and bottom, and it'd work fine for a calendar submission :spyder:

Okay, done! Thanks for the tip!

Re: 2019 Forum Calendar Contest!

The Dragonfly 2 in Zome Green VG-10 and the Para Military 2 in CPM S30V are my first two Spyderco knives, and the basis by which I'm judging all others. The Dragonfly is sheer perfection, and I can think of nothing that would warrant a version 4 upgrade. The Para Military 2 is hands-down, no-contest...

Re: My collection and thoughts (so far)

One more update: I swapped the clip to tip down, right hand, and I actually LOVE it now and no longer want it to be a wire clip. It feels even better and I'm going to leave it this way. https://s22.postimg.cc/bieazcxmp/IMG_1175.jpg I do still wish they'd left off the jimping on the back lock, though...

Re: My collection and thoughts (so far)

I appreciate all the replies! I was working with my buddy last night and compared his Delica 4 to my Native 5. I have to say, even though I might get flamed, the steel-lined Delica felt like a higher quality knife resting in my hand. The Native was much nicer to open and close, and the ergonomics fe...

Re: My collection and thoughts (so far)

Nice summary. Warning, hanging out in this forum can be a slippery slope, it starts to seem normal to own multiple versions of the same model, to obsess over the latest super steel, to learn more and more about caring for your edges... before you know it, you own dozens of Spyderco knives, (or heav...

Re: My collection and thoughts (so far)

You certainly picked some good ones to be your first Spydercos. I suggest that next you buy a Manix 2 LW or Back Lock, and then get a Military. I like both of these far better than the Paramilitary and I am not alone in this regard. This is not saying the PM2 is not top notch, because it absolutely...

My collection and thoughts (so far)

I'm 50 years old, and new to the world of Spyderco knives. I remember when the first models came out, and I remember being a bit perplexed by the big hole in the blade. I mean, who would do that, right? They didn't get my attention back then. Flash forward a few decades and I am no longer a curious ...
