Re: Yet another Pre Diver post
No reason not to carry it. But the whole Mariner/Diver line is a bit odd for wet conditions. Slippery and of course modern Salt steels have a corrosion advantage.

Re: Native Chief Lightweight!!!
Anyone gotten a Lightweight Chief in hand yet? I’m curious what the handles feel like. I ditched the Native 5 LW due to sharp edges on the handle. I have been curious myself , especially the balance . MG2 Saw a Shot Show video the other day where they showed this knife off a little. The corners loo...

Re: New Tenacious Frame Lock in D2?
Think about what happens if they price this knife at $100. It undercuts nearly every Golden, Seki, and Taichung knife. Massive cannibalization. I don’t think they can do it with the current pricing structures.

Re: New Tenacious Frame Lock in D2?
Yeah don’t get too excited guys. Spyderco’s pricing is always higher than I think the market could bear. And their Chinese knives don’t always pan out price wise (Alcyone/Polestar ).

Re: New Tenacious Frame Lock in D2?
I bet this is a $200.00 knife. Could be. That would be insane. I’m not saying you’re wrong but it just seems way too high. For reference here’s a Steel Will titanium frame lock with D2 blade . Spyderco likely has higher standards than Steel Will. Spyderco obviously prices their knives higher than b...

Re: New Tenacious Frame Lock in D2?
Saw a shot show clip from a few days back where they showed this off. What a weird looking knife but it looks like they’ve stepped up a tier in Chinese OEM’s. I’m really curious what the price will be. I think it should be $75 but there’s no way Spyderco will price it that low. Guess we will find ou...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE
Im aware that serrations are not the bread and butter of the “knife community” at large, Sadly this is an understatement. Most makers ignore them entirely. Good to see the Native Chief LW and Chaparral LW coming (eventually) in SE. I do think SE is slightly less compelling now than when Spyderco wa...

Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition
I made a rod holder that can clamp in a vise. It works well.
I guess I never uploaded my design but this one looks like it would work fine in a vise:

Re: What grit are spyderco blades finished to at the factory?
I’m not sure why the existing blade finish matters. Silicon carbide is at least twice as hard as that steel and will grind it down just fine. Some inexpensive diamond plates (like $15 on Amazon) may help make the low grits go faster. I think I would start with 400 grit and go up from there until I r...

Re: Brouwing a Better Brouwer
None of the objections to or problems with this knife would be anywhere near as strong if it was even $50 cheaper. Well, it’s discontinued and selling for $190 now. As a rule of thumb if it’s a collaboration and it gets mixed reviews, you will likely be able to pick it up cheaper at some point. Why...

Re: Does anyone know how to cut brown Sharpmaker rods cleanly?
If I was just doing a couple of these I would try a diamond hacksaw blade. These are generally handy and while I wouldn’t expect the substrate to hold up under a lot of use, they’re cheap and you can find them at a hardware store.

Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
The original Manix 2 was huge back then. For a couple years it was an obsession with most knife communities. The LW version came later, after FFG was phased in.

Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
And yet Spyderco produced an SE Manix2 and discontinued it. I’m guessing it did not make sense economically.
People make too much of the FFG vs HG. You should snag a used SE Manix and enjoy it. They’re not super easy to find but they’re out there.

Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
And "all" Spyderco would have to do is grinding teeth in a proportion of Manix LWs they make. Spyderco already makes too much stuff. Every SKU has overhead and takes production capacity away from other SKU’s. They used to make a full serrated Manix 2 (G-10, original hollow ground version)...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?
Why do you prefer the Chaparral? I had initially narrowed my list down to these 4: Delica, Native, Sage and Chaparral. From there I narrowed it down to the Native. But I'm open to having my mind changed. The Chap has a much thinner blade. It’s about as slicey a knife as Spyderco makes. The Native 5...

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?
I would not pay extra for something other than S30V. It’s a great steel.
I far, far prefer the Chapparal LW to the Native 5.

Re: Shiny spots-please help.
People always argue with me but burrs are the devil. Avoid causing them and make sure you grind away any that appear.
