If you like S110V, why not with a PM2 or Millie in that steel?
I’m curious about trying a harder steel. And trying a tool steel.

I’ve owned both pm2 and military in S110V.

They were both fantastic.

Re: I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?

Thanks for all of the awesome suggestions everybody. I am a grounds maintenance supervisor, and the job requires all sorts of different cutting, there’s no telling what new task it will be put up against. I am thinking a 3” to 4” blade would probably be the minimum required. Honestly I went way way ...

I don’t have any Spydies! Which knife should I buy?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a budget of around $300 for a new EDC knife. I was out of the knife hobby for a few months as Life just didn’t require it anymore. So I sold all my knives on eBay. I still own my Wicked Edge with diamond stones, and strops, angle finder etc. etc. I loved S110V! I could sharpen...

Re: what stones to use for my sharp maker

Yes! All stones should be used dry. Diamond and CBN with no pressure. The diamonds are glued in, too much pressure will remove them. Use all stones with light pressure. What's your experience so far? Diamond stones need to break in too though. Not sure about sharpmaker rods.. But, It is a common pr...

Thanks for sharing ! On a practical note, how do you polish the washers ?
I held my wicked edge strop in one hand, and polished the washer with my index finger pushing it down.

Re: Which steel for the Para 3?

This may be what you're looking for...though I'm sure you would have to pay a steep price on Ebay. Unless you can find one on Blade Forums? 5xfrE6lh.jpg That is so nice! My favorite knife ever. To bad I don’t own one yet. It is a rare one, and a looker! Guilty of no hard use...yet. so I cant really...

Re: Maintaining pm 2 s110v edge with sharp maker

It's screaming sharp, hair whittling edge. I had a feeling you were going to say that haha, I have some practicing to do One of the best decisions I ever made in regards to sharpening was to go to lower grit finishes. Learning how to get shaving sharpness off your coarse stones is a great skill to ...

Re: Which steel for the Para 3?

I’d go CPM 4V, Rex45, or Maxamet. There all (3) super strong.

If you want something that is stainless maybe S110V.

There’s something about the red Para 3, with black 4V blade that looks so good to me.

Here’s another picture of my edge. I love how long this steel stays sharp. https://i.ibb.co/hK2Kbmv/9-EC98-E74-9-A11-45-C3-A25-A-681-F6-ECAB87-C.jpg https://i.ibb.co/cxhCr8z/7-DF1-DC6-F-A85-D-43-BD-A9-EC-2910986-F0-B1-D.png https://i.ibb.co/d23BMrs/3-BB37190-3-CAC-403-C-B117-3-C87-A71-A2-C74.png

Re: Maintaining pm 2 s110v edge with sharp maker

I have not sharpened my PM2 in a little while. I don’t know how long it’s been. Maybe 3 weeks. It is still very sharp. And I will just strop it with diamond loaded leather 10/14 micron probably today. You’ve got to use some decent pressure, and after about 30 passes each side, it becomes crazy razor...

Re: Maintaining pm 2 s110v edge with sharp maker

S110V is pretty tricky to sharpen, and get a extremely sharp edge. I could always get it pretty sharp, but it took a lot of practice to get it hair whittling, or hair popping sharp. But, It is easy to maintain once you learn the steel. I reprofile and sharpen on a wicked edge. But I really no longer...

Spyderco Military butter smooth action.

My Spyderco Military CQI S110V was feeling a little rough upon flicking and closing the knife. So I took the knife apart, and cleaned and polished all of the pivot areas to a mirror finish. I found some old thread lock resting on the brass bushings, and a little dirt preventing a smooth action. So, ...

Re: Suggestions for a new spydie !

I use a my PM2 Blurple S110V for work. Edge retention is amazing. I think he has one, It may be a Para 3 Blurple, if so I’d use that!

I think he’s already got some pretty good work knife options.

Some of you folks seem to overestimate how abrasive wood is. I have a chopper made from S7. If you look at a blade steel chart, it's got toughness that's off the charts, but with .55% carbon is has very low wear resistance: http://corse76.altervista.org/images/resil.gif I sharpen that chopper only ...
