Re: Least liked thing about a favored Spydie

Spyderco Southard: Perhaps my favorite knife ever! It bothers me that it has paper thin washers for bearing races! My sample still functions well, but I can’t help but think the washers are a time bomb. I love everything else about the knife. Yes, that includes the clip, asymmetric scales, and othe...

Re: Reinhold Rhino Update

The Rhino still rolls through my rotation. Each time it does, I’m reminded of how useful it is. Like others, it was kind of an impulse buy. It was a good impulse.

Re: Spydiechef vs Kapara

I have both. I prefer the Spydiechef in the kitchen. For me, the geometry works better at food tasks. Also, if things get a little damp, I find it easier to maintain a reassuring grip due to its width. I prefer the Kapara for EDC. It’s chased lots of other knives from my rotation. Both are amazing a...

Re: I wish spyderco offered deep carry clips

Collaboration with excelent designers has produced some amazing Spyderco knives over the years.
A colaboration with Casey Lynch for steel clips as OE on a few knives, Wow! Great idea.

Let's do this. https://i.imgur.com/P7SGOsr.jpg No **** Compression lock either! YES! Keep it backlock! I think this is going to be my favorite Spyderco folder of all time, hands down. I'm not a fan of thumb ramps at all, and while knives like the Millie and Police 4 give my thumb enough space to br...

Re: Spyderco Reveal: Tell me more!

Like many on this thread I’m a bit saddened by the announcement. I liked knowing what was in the works and the anticipation was kinda fun! If this is driven by consumer complaint, I wonder how much of that is fueled by retailers offering preorders well before release dates are known. Preorders start...

Re: New? Immerse!

I will second (third?) some of the thoughts on the Para3. WhenI first read about it I was really excited. When I first saw it, I thought ‘yuck!’ It just seemed off to me. When I finally held a Para3 in hand, it really made sense and changed my opinoin. It’s grown on me by leaps and bounds since then...

Re: LC200N Native 5 Salt. Still no knife. Come on! When???

I was really crazy antsy for the LC200N Native last summer, as I had a long sailing trip planned. I wound up ‘settling’ for a SE PacSalt...and the thing blew me away! In a way, it makes me kinda glad the Native wasn’t ready by then. Now I have to decide if my next Spyderco purchase will be the Nativ...

The Junction is great! Fit and finish is stellar! Went straight onto my hip. I personally believe 4 inches is the best size for a edc fixed blade. So glad I picked this up on sale! And very happy to have my Gayle fixed blade pair complete! http://i.imgur.com/Ra8cnJn.jpg The handle looks more compac...

Re: 2018 Alistair Phillips!

Mine arrived today! It seems a perfect sample and I am very happy. The fit and finish is great, and I love the ergonomics. The scales are beautiful, and the semi-polished texture is comfortable and fitting for this classy knife. Mine is a free dropper. However, I agree that the size of the cutout an...

Much better with an MXG Gear clip than the original.. https://preview.ibb.co/b49qre/IMG_1604.jpg Idk, I seem to be in a minority, but I really like this knife! It does look much better! If you don’t mind my asking, which MXG clip is that specifically? (They have like 4 pages of offerings) Thanks.

Re: New Brouwer offering?

This is so reminiscent of how a small number of complaints about the Para 3 clip blew up into a small internet storm. The options here are the same. Don’t buy it. Buy it and buy a different clip. Buy it and use it as-is. I don’t know about a storm. I’m kinda looking at it more like feedback. Well.....

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?

Favorite and most carried: Original brown Southard.
Second most carried is a Schempp Bowie.

Most (and hardest) used: Histirically probably my S110V PM2 followed by my Delica 4

Recently my Rhino has been getting the most use and carry though. Love that little guy.

Re: New Brouwer offering?

The clip placement has been the main hangup for me. Seeing it with the lynch makes me consider it once again. But, since a new clip is essentially mandatory for me, I'll have to wait until I can get the knife for 20%, based on principle. Agree. This is a beautiful knife that suffers from the precon...

Hi Big50, Welcome to our forum. That's why we try hard to make models in a wide variety of prices. sal Thank you, Sal. Everyone has a different sweet spot. For me you nailed it with the Rhino. Re: Cost Cutting on Sprderco's Higher End Models, Why?

I love all the second guessing in this thread. Producing consumer goods is a tough business, you have to make tough choices. Products that can’t be made with a certain profit margin simply don’t get made. Dang, I came all the way to page 6 to say ^^^^ this ^^^^ and you said it better...or at leat m...

Re: Why do you carry a knife?

Wow, I’m right in line with everyone. In no particular order: 1. To cut stuff. I have a few heavy users, primary among them are my PM2 and PacSalt. A sturdy, well built knife that screams for more when put to real work is a true pleasure to use. 2. Preparedness. Yes, I guess it's preparedness TO CUT...

Re: Spydiechef CQI??

Are these known for late lockup? Most of the ones I’ve looked at for sale are pretty “late.” My lockbar engages about 60% of the blade tang, maybe a bit more. That’s perfect in my book. “Late” gets used as a pejorative. :D Given the way the lock engages and how the tang surface is sculpted, I’m not...
