For those of you wondering the detent ball is there to stop the leaf of the comp lock from rubbing on the blade. There is no hole in the blade for that bearing to sit in thus it does not aid in retention. I took one for the team but I don't recommend anyone else take this knife apart just stating th...

Trust me that detent doesn't do anything feel free to disassemble your Szabo and give it a shot . I even went as far as to assemble the knife without the spring the blade just flies open unless you tighten it up all the way and yes pockets that's there to keep it closed

Don't take it apart trust me not fun. It is black G-10 as far as i can tell the gold line cf is just a veneer on t...

see that nice little threaded area where the bar passes through. This if for a tension screw so they can pull the spring back and install the blade in the closed position. If you don't have this special screw it's very difficult to put the blade back in. this is something you learn from taking the k...

just noticed on the cut out for the lock if you look at the pin that runs through the comp lock theres another liner thats been routed out and sunken into the scale. They definitely wanted this to be a strong knife.

Right now my perfect folder is the Szabo. Call it what you will but I love the design and have always wanted a military with a comp lock. Unfortunately spyderco never made such a knife but the Szabo is as close as it's gonna get. The comp lock is one of my favorites as well its pretty much impossibl...
