Re: CPM SPY27 steel

I'm really curious how the toughness/stability will compare to the BD1N. If the results are favorable I may replace my woods folder/foraging knife (manix 2 lw).

It was decided that the K390 Endura family series will NOT be a Sprint, but regular "In-the-line" models.

This is great news! K390 is a superb steel.

I'm saving up for a stretch and dragonfly in K390. I may also get a manix 2 lw or native 5 lw.

Re: Quick question: Upcoming K390 Endura family: Sprint runs or regular production?

The plan is for a sprint series. I'd like to do all of the models in the "Endura family". I'd be intrested in what additional blade configs you wight also like? sal I'd buy a stretch and dragonfly in K390. Possibly an endura too. I love the color of the K390 ladybug and I hope the Sprint ...

Re: After-Market Micarta Scales for Para 3?

I have some for my pm2 from suingab at g10.lt. They have incredible ergos. I know he makes them for the para 3 as well. They're made to order so it'll take some time, but they're worth it.

Re: Reveal 4 Live!

It's interesting that they have a K390 Ladybug in regular production. I wonder if they plan on trickling out K390 versions of the Seki knives as regular versions instead of sprints.

The handle pattern on the S45VN knives looks interesting!

Re: K390 & Corrosion

I'll tell you guys a trick I never thought about for knives. An old guy told this one to my dad way back in the day and he forwarded it on to me at some point long ago. "If you don't want your tools to rust, stick them in the dirt" That's it, just push the metal you want to protect into t...

Re: Best Edge Performance Steel between these choices?

My choice goes to K390. I have experience with K390 and Cruwear. I haven't tried the other two. Rex 45 is inaccessible, and maxamet scares me as I chip my knives often. I haven't chipped my K390 urban yet (knock on wood) and it holds an edge way longer than cruwear. I love sharpening cruwear but I a...

Re: Super Blue

Yes! I'd like more longer, thinner blades in Super Blue. Police 4 LW! This! I saw an Endura in SB on /r/knife_swap the other day. The price was pretty good too (like $85). Nice find! That sb endura is on its way to my pocket as we speak. It'll fit nicely with my delica, caly 3, and caly jrs.

Re: ZDP-189 vs M4 for rainy west coast living?

I'm near Seattle, likely similar to your situation. I've edc'd m4, cruwear, k390 without problem. It's not humid here, just rainy. If it gets wet enough to soak my pants I put my knife in my rain jacket. If you oil your blade you should be fine with whatever. You may want a stainless knife if you ar...

I'd love to see a GB3 with scales that are the same width as the liners (or nested liners) and K390 steel. Maybe make it with a more lefty friendly lock!

Re: Linerless: Any issues?

Right when I got in to knives and before I started always carrying a fixed blade with me for woods time I batoned quite a bit of firewood into kindling with my manix 2 lw. The only thing that happened to it was an extremely slight bend in the blade. Still locks up like a champ with no blade play.

Re: Well this hobby is about to get more expensive.......

Yeah, Ole Winkler, is about 30-40 minutes away from me. I actually have one coming.. Winkler Belt Knife - Exclusive Special Edition - CPM 3V and Walnut I had one here years ago to check out in 80CRV2.... Liked the model a lot, not a big fan of basic carbon steels though... They started using 3V how...
