Re: SpydieChef: Jury is still out

Small point here; the Sebenza 21's lock face is actually carburized. I believe this is to prevent wear on the lock face, but it could also be to get the exact kind of lockup that CRK desires from their knives. And, a good point at that... there is a two-volume DVD titled, The Exquisite Blade - The ...

Re: Daughter's first "real" folder

That's awesome! My girl is only 3 and a 1/2 but took an extreme liking to a fuchsia Cadet which I was happy to buy and put aside as her first knife but if she sees a Spydie she likes.... :D  :spyder:

Re: Layaway program for more expensive Spyderco Models: Thoughts?

Maybe I'm just old school but if you need layaway to purchase a Spyderco knife you have far bigger things to worry about than trying to acquire their latest offerings....just my harsh 2 cents.

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada

Don't give up though guys. The laws were really strict in Australia (no flippers or knives which can be wrist flicked open)but last year they officially relaxed the laws. I believe Sal and a local distributor, Zen Imports, had a lot to do with it. As SSBB has stated, if you can encourage the assist...

Re: Spyderco/Farid K2

Got mine today, I had wanted to see if a Sebenza clip would fit, turns out the cutouts are near identical, it may just pull in but it will definitly fit perfectly with ~ half mm taken off the side. The Seb clip is more comfortable with it's lower profile (it will be even lower than the pic below whe...

Re: The Ozzies Are Back!! And Wire Clip Update Suggestions.

Congrats and a fine knife and relaxed import laws! I followed the anticipation over at ABF for the last 6 months or so, and I was quite surprised (in a good way) to see this become a reality. There's a bit of a feeding frenzy in Aus at the moment eh? :D Thanks! We were all pleasantly surprised as i...

The Ozzies Are Back!! And Wire Clip Update Suggestions.

After living with an unpredictable and strict importation law for the past few years, getting the latest Spyderco (or any brand of one hand opening knife) had become difficult or very expensive in Australia and for most people non existent. As of the 15th of December 2015 Australia decided to change...

The examples of bushed pivots I have been able to get my hands on, I really like, but it makes them difficult for me to import, which is a big negative for us Spydie fans with tight laws.

I have to admit I much prefer the markings from other makers that just start with a capital letter, like the Japan models and a few of the Colorado models. I also prefer the classic Spyderco marking(like the one at the top of the page), seems much more in keeping with Spyderco's branding than just f...

Sorry can't help with original question, but from what I have read carbidized lock faces are more about creating a rough surface(for slip resistance) than increasing toughness, as the added layer is very thin and does not stop deformation of the base metal.
