Re: It's wild how many different versions of the compression lock exist
Riffing on riclaw's and Wartstein's ideas, how about a Military 3 (and PM3, etc) with button comp-lock and the self-close spring?

Re: SE Edge Angles
Fluting can increase stiffness of steel, so it is *possible* that both serrations and coarse sharpening are acting like flutes and increasing the stiffness of blade steel. Very difficult to prove without extensive testing or fairly high end computer modeling.

All the different version of the Swick need their own dedicated sheath. At least in my experience with 4 different versions I own.

I really wish they would make a smaller version of the Szabo, or at least a similar model using the self-close spring.

Re: Apologies - 2023 Spyderco Online Factory Seconds Sale
Sigh. Hosted servers don't live in the company basement. They live somewhere else in a datacenter that has more than sufficient bandwidth and server capacity to handle way more than this sale needs to run smoothly. Technology has moved far beyond where it was in the '90s. If a company lacks the reso...

Thank you Spyderco listening, learning, and trying to do better. It's all one can ask.
For others, stop "tugging the forelock". It is not a privilege to buy second rate goods. However, Spyderco is blessed to have such loyal customers.

I found out that DampRid is highly corrosive the hard way. Now I just use one of the alternatives.

What, if any, folding models do you think qualify as "hard use"? Shaman comes to mind. Maybe the Manix 2 XL. Maybe the Native cheif... Thanks for the advice. Sounds like it could be a great knife for me, but still debating if its worth putting myself in mortal peril :squinting-tongue For ...

I probably need to change it up more often because at this rate I never carry everything I have. Today is the SNK Goddard, again.

Re: Desiccant and corrosion question...
Desiccant packets are short term solutions. They do get saturated and lose their ability to absorb moisture. If you have a safe you can get larger rechargeable desiccant devices. There are also heating rods for safes. Another option is ignore the moisture and use another means to stop the corrosion....

Re: If the cops ask you, my wife did it
The Smock shines with aftermarket scales, IMO. The cut out in the blade is essentially a finger choil. If you don't like finger choils, you will not like the cut out. Overall, the blade shape is a winner, although a model with a smaller or no cutout would be an improvement. The handle is comfortable...

Keeping it in-person only may be the wisest course. For you maybe. I don't share your opinion at all. I appreciate that they have these online sales despite all moaning and groaning. Was it a little rough? Yes! Did it take some time and persistence. Yes! Would I have been mad if I put in all that e...

Was out this past weekend looking for some Hogue slip on grip accessories when I just 'HAD' to rescue this 6 1/2" .357/9mm convertible for six Benjamin's at a local Cabela's from not being shot anytime soon; a former cowboy action shooter had given it up... I just couldn't pass on it :cheap-su...

I bought someones de-flippered version. I'm not really a fan, but I might have liked it better if mine still had the flipper tab. Two things are for sure, it looks good and you will not slide up on to the blade. Very safe design in that respect.

Re: Autonomy at ACK
Prices had gone up a bit on the seconds, then back down. Currently at a good level for Autonomys and there are several in stock. No warranty, of course, but my two have been excellent to the point I'm not sure where the flaw is. Parts kits are also currently available at Spyderco.com. Seems like an ...
