Re: Another one to tick off the grail list! :D

I've got a grail, but I haven't seen one posted for sale in years. Foliage green C95 sprint. Wouldn't mind a green Perrin bowie to match :)

Re: Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos

Top five for my uses? 1. Pacific Salt - Favorite warm weather EDC. Very light, rust proof, no frills, just a solid work horse. 2. Police 4 - Amazing cutting performance and ergonomics in a thin, light package. My favorite folder from Spyderco. 3. Swick 3 - Really handy compact EDC fixed blade. Offer...

Hi Vivi,

Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't see any message in my forum inbox...
Just tried again. I know where you can buy a bolstered Caly 3.

Haunt's a strong word but, man, I wish I had a stainless bolstered c.f, damascus Caly3. Beautiful knife.

Re: What would you want a Dragonfly XL to look like?

The Dragonfly, Chaparral, Native, Manix 2 and Manix 2 XL have always seemed to me to be very close to the same ergonomics, just in increasing size. I've identified them because that's my preferred set of ergonomics. There are variations in length and thickness, but they all have the "like a glove" ...

The DLC Manix XL has DLC'd liners. I believe the mini manix DLC does as well.

Re: Why is having the blade drop closed such a big deal?

I think I can operate my lock back Spydercos as quick as folks can operate a compression lock. If anyone here wants to make a video where they open and close their compression lock folder quickly, I'll do the same with a lock back.

Re: Police K390...yea it's freaking awesome.

Haven't heard anything of the sort. I plan to wait and see what the FRN Police is like when it comes out, then buy back-ups of whichever version I like best. If they don't end up doing a K390 FRN run I'll have to grab another G10 version...it's an amazing steel.

Re: Second Time Around Possibilities?

I think there were still some of the second issue Starmates available new when I got into knives and learned about Spyderco, but then I kept reading about unfavorable comparisons of the second issue Starmates qualitywise vs the original Starmates, so I never got one. Kind of regret it because I lik...

Re: Triangle rods a little wet. Can I use them?

They can be used wet or dry, no harm going either route. Used wet they bits of steel you grind off the knife won't build up on the stone quite as fast.

foliage green C95 Manix. They came out just after I took a break from this forum, and by the time I found out about them, they were all gone. To this day it's still a knife I'd love to get my hands on. The C95 will always be a favorite of mine, and foliage green is one of my favorite colors for a kn...

Re: Why is having the blade drop closed such a big deal?

Personally, I much prefer to guide it closed with my index finger and/or thumb in the Spyderhole. I'm the same way. Letting it swing freely can make it easier to cut yourself. Plus a lot of times it takes longer to close the knife since it has a tendency to bounce back open a hit. There's a lot of ...

Looks good: I like the blade. Not too wild about the choil, but if it floats your boat, good for you.
I can see that, I added it for Vivi’s xl dragonfly thread.
Looks really well done Daveho. The job I did adding a choil to my Pacific Salt looks comically bad in comparison.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Just ordered a Stretch 2 to try out as a work beater. It'll be my first Stretch 2, and my first FRN Stretch of any sort. Excited to try it out. The ergonomics and VG10 steel should work nicely for me.

Day 1 of my little knife challenge :D Used this as an excuse to touch up my PE Pacific Salt. Usually grab my SE, but wanted to mix it up a bit. I'll avoid sharpening it the entire week.

It's nice shedding a few ounces compared to the Manix XL or Police 4.

Re: What is more resistant to rust - DLC'ed carbon steel or plain stainless?

DLC does not address this problem. Even if you don’t suffer “chipping”, you’re gonna get dull but quick. Not necessarily. If you sharpen your knife, that refreshes the steel at the apex. It also comes down to what is making your knife rust. Is it continual exposure to salty, humid air? Might get a ...
