So what gives? Is it the lack of a sheath to protect the edges? Is it that noone on these forums prepares their own food? Is Spyderco not making kitchen knives that people would buy (AFAIC the Yin and Yang are wonderful)? Familiarity breeds contempt? What??? I just use my EDC. I'm usuall...

I like the idea and appearance of the thinned out blade, (e.g. the beautiful Krein and Schanz jobs). What would be the heaviest uses you could safely use such a blade for? peace On this there are many conflicting reports. I can only relate to you my personal experiences. http://img244.imageshack.us...

I don't know specific measurements, but I like my edges in the ballpark of 4-6 degrees per side on the back bevel and 10 degrees per side for a microbevel. This is how I grind my EDC's. http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/3971/newedge3cy5.jpg This is much thinner than most people grind their edges. H...

It would definitley be nice, I'd love a Stretch with a 2mm blade. The downside of of Spyderco doing something like that would be the folks who would buy them without understanding their limitation, especially on larger blades. For every satisified customer, you might have two or three whining that ...

Hi Vivi, We thought about it, but it adds more SKU's and we beliee it is a very small market. I think the best at this time is to take advantage of Tom Krein's ability and fair pricing for aftermarket grinding. sal Thank you for the response. I recall Thomas from Kershaw also saying there was extre...

I use sandpaper glued to something hard or diamond benchstones. I have a rather limited budget right now, but I'd like to try out the XX Coarse DMT stone and a belt sander to see how they work. It would save me a lot of time. Tom Krein, the person who did the knives in the photos, uses a belt sander...

Thin Blades On Spydercos
Sal, is there any chance we could see a really thinly ground Spyderco at some point? Something like 2mm thick blade, full flat grind, with a tiny bevel at the edge? I don't know how practical it would be to produce a knife like this from one of your factories. I've gotten in the habit of regrinding ...

Here are some video links. In the first video where the edge is catching that's from a poor push cut attempt and / or the damage that was already there. The knife didn't sustain any new damage, it only lost a bit of sharpness from cutting the can. Still took hairs off my arm and obviously could slic...

That looks really good. I bet that is quite the cutter. Looks like the edge damaged was removed or at least reduced. Do you know the approximate edge angles on that one for primary and micro bevel? Do you use calipers or anything to measure thickness at the shoulder? Do you have any videos of you s...

Worked on my UKPK tonight along with a few others. Here's the setup I was using. 100 grit sanding belt glued to a dvd case, DMT fine and a strop. I've been using edge leading strokes for the microbevel ever since I tried sharpening that way. I get a cleaner edge more quickly than edge trailing. http...

Cliff, how do you feel about carefully stropping a well honed edge? I agree with the point about some using it to knock off a burr or otherwise cover up sloppy sharpening technique, but when used on a properly honed edge I've always had good results if my desired edge was polished. Also do you have ...

Hey Vivi--you mention you skate with your para or military. I always thought the para would be a good knife to take on a skiing adventure but worried about how easily it may open and how quickly that needle point becomes exposed. How tight is your action and any incidents of accidental opening? Tha...

Looks good. I considered selling mine and getting the D2 one, but I prefer S30V to CPMD2. I do like that green though. :)boxer93 wrote:You could always have another color :D
I think Tricod had both ours at the same time. My Blue weave will be getting a rest.
