That is a shame.
I think that I shall go grab a PE Merlin from a retailer while I can.

Hey was there ever a PE Merlin made with G10 scales instead of the FRN? Now that would be an intersting knife to get hold of if it was ever produced.

And Simona....nice work on your website!

Well I'll certainly give the Bladeforums/Spyderco Forums PE Spyderhawk a good workout in the garden when I get it. But you're right SilverDragon about the reaction to bladeshapes like the Spyderhawk and esp the Civilian - another knife that I would love to own but I think that it would just sit in m...

Hawkbill blades...useful?

I'm really curious as to how useful hawkbill blades are to non mariner types. I have no need to cut nets and fishing lines but I would really like to get my hands on a PE Merlin or preferably the Bladeforums/Spyderco Forums Spyderhawk. So I wanted to know if you folks who carry hawkbill bladed Spyde...

Hey Dynaryder,
As I understand it, the difference between the Hi and Low Domes on the LS models is the that the hi domes have a better range and a tighter "focus" - if that's the right word. I have ordered the AAA LE as well as the LSH-P. Can't wait.

Does anyone know why the Calypso Jr Ltwt was designed to be tip down carry? I think its the only lightweight that is tip down.

I have both and although the Native has a more comfortable handle, I find myself carrying the Calypso Jr Ltwt so much more. Its lighter and less bulky. I prefer the VG10 blade on the Calypso as well. I can cut cardboard so much easier with it than with the Native. Oh, nearly forgot to mention that a...

Spyderco blades are REAL sharp outta the box!

Just got a CRKT KFF (thanks to James Mattis!) and although it is a very solid knife with good ergos, the blade is remarkably dull in comparison to the last Spydie that I got - a vorpal Calypso Jr Ltwt. Are there any other companies that can match Spyderco? I dont have a huge collection of knives and...

Sal,
How do you go about measuring quality? Is it quantifiable in that sense? I can understand that you have manufacturing tolerances and aesthetic standards that you can set and use to base your QA on but other than that how could you measure quality?

The more I use the Calypso Jr Ltwt, the more I am amazed by the sharpness of the blade....it just cuts so effectively. I am VERY careful handling it cos I'm sure that if I am as clumsy with this one, I'll get a very painful kiss!!! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Ultimate lightweight?

I have the Native (CPM440V) and Calypso Jr (VG10) and I reckon that one of these as got to be the ultimate in lightweight clipits. Comparison.... Native: more comfortable to hold thanks to the deeper finger choil, spear point blade with swedge, thicker blade produces more resistance when slicing thr...

I just got a little parcel from James Mattis this morning and it had a wonderful Calypso Jr Ltwt in it. Fantastic! I have quite a few Spydercos and this is by far the sharpest straight outta the box. I'm lookin forward to seeing how the VG10 compares to the CPM440V on my Native. Lots of great design...
