Re: LC200N Native 5 Salt. Still no knife. Come on! When???
At the risk of angering the warranty gods, I have some observations from having had mine apart (more than once). Here’s what I’ve found. First, from what I can tell, and owing to material design related to the corrosion proofing the ENTIRE knife, the lock bar spring is stiffer than my other Native i...

Re: LC200N Native 5 Salt. Still no knife. Come on! When???
I received the two that I ordered yesterday and today. Of the two, the SE is the smoother of the two. But both of them are pretty stiff, and on a par with my other Native 5 SE in S35VN. I decided to take my PE apart and see what was causing all the stiffness and creakiness. I polished the contact ar...

Re: LC200N Native 5 Salt. Still no knife. Come on! When???
Got lucky two days ago when I checked BladeHQ and noticed both in stock. Ordered one of each. Got my shipping confirmation and now... they show as ‘Out Of Stock’. Lucky me. Maybe by Christmas?? BTW, I had one on preorder from another vendor that still shows as out of stock. Canceled that order to ge...

Re: Tormec Sharpening
Never had a problem sharpening S30V with the original stone. But the CBN wheels cut better and stay true and flat. They’ll cut anything. About ‘systems’... what Zatx said. As I said in my earlier post, you HAVE to practice. Buy some cheap thrift store knives and practice. You can really screw an edg...

Re: Tormec Sharpening
I have a Tormek. An early 10” model which differs a little from the ‘T’ series models they currently offer. I think it was called a Supergrind. Anyway... It works well but will require you to practice... like any system. There are multiple blade holders for a variety of blade lengths. You CAN sharpe...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean LC200N SE V.S. H1 SE
For me, I’d like to see a real-world test that involves the sort of things a knife would be put through on a regular basis for average users... a sort of smorgasbord of mediums and not just repetitions on the same one. Cut some rope, cut some cardboard, whittle some wood, cut a few cable ties, slice ...

Re: Native 5 SE in S35VN
It’s scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Monday) so... I’m anxious to test it out. I have no intention of torture testing it but am curious about how it will cut and how it will hold up. My Sharpmaker will be my go-to for sharpening since my Tormek and Wicked Edge won’t be helpful. It’ll be fun. And if th...

Re: Native 5 SE in S35VN
Thanks for the replies. All good stuff. My only other experience with serrations was with a Kershaw Blur in one of the Sandvik steels. That knife was/is soft. And the serrations were more rippled and not like the SE with the combo of small teeth and a generous valley. My Spydercos (and other brands)...

Native 5 SE in S35VN
I have a question about a knife I just ordered. I didn’t do a lot of research before I pulled the trigger on a DLC Native 5 with the SE. A lot of 1sts for me... as in my 1st Spyderco with a SpyderEdge. And my 1st Native 5. And now that it’s ordered, I’m a little concerned about the combo. This will ...

Re: The ultimate noob sharpening setup. W/Pics!
That was my plan too. I hit a milestone birthday and bought a WE. Already had/have a Tormek. And bench stones. And a Lansky. And a Harbor Freight belt sander with leather strop. I was already able to sharpen most anything to ridiculous sharpness. But, I wanted better and more predictable. So I got a...

Ft Lauderdale, Florida. But I may have to move. Got a message on my phone today... the IRS is sending the local cops to arrest me. Seems legit.

Re: Casey Lynch Short Clip vs. MXG Gear Short Clip
Slightly off topic, but... I just received my sandwashed titanium Lynch Para 3 clip that has the relief design for the lanyard hole. I really wanted to like this clip. Fit is perfect and it wasn’t difficult to install like some of the horror stories I’ve heard, but in the end... I went back to the o...

Re: How can you tell if black dlc blades are corroding?
Flitz to remove marks... so, is the DLC resistant to the polish of Flitz? I was concerned that any polishing agent would begin to remove the DLC itself. And out of curiosity, did the Flitz put a shine on the DLC? My Para 3 M4 has a flat DLC and I’ve seen DLC with a satin finish. Might be something I...

Welcome Xander. Can’t help you with the sprint drops but can comment on a couple of the other questions. The Sharpmaker is a go-to touch up sharpener for a lot of us. It’s absolutely worth the price and something you should seriously consider since it doesn’t sound like you’re equipped to do a repro...

Re: Oooo boy am I excited!
I snagged a DLT Para 3 M4 with the natural G10. Awesome knife, but... I went to disassemble it to clean and lube, polish the pivot washers, etc., but the lanyard tube was not cooperative. I happen to like the natural scales and wasn’t planning on replacing them so they didn’t really need to come off...

Welcome Spoons. If you have an iPhone, attach the pic to an email to yourself. It will ask you what size you want to send it as. Choose a small version. Send it, then open the email and save the pic. It will be sized appropriately for attachment. Android users probably have the same or similar funct...

Re: Need advice on reprofiling bevel
My only experience with CBN is on my Tormek grinder. I have a 600 grit stone and it is an amazing tool. I prefer the way it feels as it cuts compared to the diamond stones on my Wicked Edge. Not exactly apples to apples, but... Personally, I’d rather have CBN as long as it’s properly bonded to the b...
