Sharpen it and lube the pivot joint. Once you have lubed the pivot joint, I put my finger in position for the one handed close. and swing the blade open and closed for about five minutes to get the action nice and loose.

I carry a serrated Merlin for the scare it insights. I keep the tip Razor sharp so it still has a clean cut. I like the power the serrations give when you need to make a deep cut.

Absolutley, I use my sharpmaker to keep a razor edge on everything from my Merlin to me wife's kitchen knives and shears.

My main reason that I have turned down buying a spydie is price. It's not that they cost too much, it's that I don't make enough. I purchased the Merlin becasue it is such a cool knife, but I had to work overtime to afford it. Now I am saving for an Endura.
