Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
I don't think I'd change that much, to be honest. My daily carry is a folder for sharpening pencils and another folder for all other uses, mainly around home. I suppose there are times I'd like to carry a fixed blade more but I still can in the countryside where I'd use it most anyway. As mentioned,...

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?
I usually carry a knife for a week, and change every Sunday. But I also always carry either my Mora Eldris or Schrade USA Uncle Henry LB5 depending on sharpening times and changing them around afterwards. If I fancy a new knife for a certain job, I'll reach for that one anytime. While I appreciate a...

Re: What are ya drinkin????
It's wonderful the way folk in the UK are being treated with beer. For a country with many massive Macro breweries we seem to be the best in the world at making absolute garbage, watered-down, beer. It's obviously not a lack of skill, it's greed. So I've completely finished off with all UK brewed bi...

Re: UKPK in Spy27 & G10 at Shot Show
Looking at my G-10 Dragonfly, I think the idea of a fully linered UKPK would make an awful lot of sense. The Dragonfly, which is much smaller, still carries it off perfectly and even has a slick look about it, so the idea of a fully linered Micarta UKPK surly has some merit, especially on an even la...

Re: Define the different size categories FOR YOU
Funny, but I have bought my Spyderco knives (especially recently) on the fact that I'd balance them out from small to large and no repeats so I'd have the best possible variety in models and sizes. I know some I've mentioned in the same group aren't the exact same size but they're all similar enough...

Heineken (although I have a notion in my head that these cans aren't nearly as tasty as the bottles) but then I've got some Belgian beers to really enjoy afterwards.
The New Year will be a new start for me so I'm going to enjoy these beers over the next couple of days.
... That's me done.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I was planning to wait until the New Year for my weekly change, but couldn't resist getting my Stretch XL into action today because I wanted a longer blade to slice up some chicken & ham. This is one knife I'm really happy I decided to buy after quite a bit of looking and looking again. A fantas...

Re: New Para 3 Maxamet Heat Mark?
Good to know it's okay. I only have one knife with Maxamet and I've been very impressed with this steel. I like the performance and the machined look to it. My future plan is to get a couple with SPY27 but if another nice G-10 or Micarta Maxamet bladed knife came up I'd probably go for that too, to ...

I have the same knife and you've definitely proven my eyesight's not getting any better. I looked with my glasses, then a magnifying glass, and finally, my fountain pen 10x loupe. What I see and, in all seriousness my eyesight is not great, is different from yours. There is a slight dark grey/black ...

Re: I have an axe to grind. Confession of an X addict
I like using smaller hatchets over larger knives most of the time and my favourites are the red beech handled Gränsfors Bruk. I have the small hatchet, the wildlife hatchet and the large carver all with red beech handles. I prefer them over the usual hickory because of their more oval shaped shafts ...

Re: Your Spyderco Christmas Eve And Christmas Day EDC, 2023
Today, I'm still carrying my PM2. Tomorrow, Christmas morning, I'll be changing to my Manix which I'll carry to New Year's Eve. Then I'll be starting out the New Year with my Stretch XL. That's my three Spyderco changes I've planned for over Christmas & the New Year - unless I reach for somethin...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
First day with the PM2 Crucarta. I'm very impressed with the Para Military as a great all-rounder sized knife. The Micarta is great to hold although I think I'd have preferred it in a slightly darker colour. Hopefully it'll darken to a richer brown colour through time. Having said that about the col...

Re: Question for CruCarta PM2 owners
I got the Micarta PM2 yesterday. It's a completely different finish from the G-10. More natural feeling, it's really grippy and comfortable, with what feels like a very fine nap to the finish. Like I do with all my knives, I did the all the edges with Micromesh down to a fine (12,000) finish and the...

Re: Fine tuning S30V ?
I usually sharpen my knives with the Sharpmaker microbevel using the standard medium and fine rods. I got the extra fine rods too but couldn't notice any day to day difference over the standard fine finish. Sure they may have been a little sharper or finer edged but in my EDC it wasn't necessary for...

Re: Question for CruCarta PM2 owners
I'm waiting for the new Cobalt Blue G-10 model with SPY27 steel but couldn't resist getting this one to try out. I'm enjoying the Stretch XL in Cruwear so fancied a PM2 with the same steel and unique scales. But I'll still go for the SPY27 model later, as this is the ideal size of a knife for me now...

Re: Power Lock
I regret not buying a Tatanka but I do have the Chinook and the lock-up is superb. When you hear that thing clunk into place you know it's safe. Plus the mechanics of it is as appealing to me in looks as much as action. For me, a Manix or Manix XL with Power Lock would be the choice. Or, even better...

Re: Buck 110 question
I carried a Buck 110 for maybe a couple of years with it's belt pouch. It was before I got into other brands and I thought it worked alright. I even had my initials and the year deep etched into the brass. Not sure what happened to it, I can't remember but that must have been around the year 2000 / ...
