Thanks for the replies so far; I forgot to say that mine is without a doubt the 52100.

Wow, I’m sorry I have no input for you on this question, but that is a model I’ve never seen or even heard of before! Spyderco is PRODIGIOUS lol

Your favorite/“the best” Paramilitary

Hello all, I am a huge fan of the PM2 and I reckon I’m not alone, so if any of you don’t mind chiming in, may I ask what is your favorite variant, or if you like, which do you think is “the best” (I guess those are pretty much the same but maybe not)? There have been so many and I hope there will be...

Maybe some diamond compound as a polish? I don’t even know if that would work tbh but maybe worth a try

Re: What do you want to see more of from Spyderco?

More 52100 steel; I received the 52100 Paramilitary recently, and lord lord... that thing is THE FINEST Spyderco I have ever seen. Jewel-like fit and finish, perfectly grippy and light CF scales, and that blade is a RAZOR!! I’m 100% converted to carbon steel now.

Re: rolling vs. chipping

I’m not sure about rolling, maybe I’ve done it without noticing, but I have put a few very tiny chips on my PM2 S110V. They stropped right out on 6 micron dia-paste with minimal effort. I understand that S110V is supposed to be chippy/brittle, but aside from those very few and minor instances, S110V...

I also have to say the S110V PM2; it simply will have no truck with cardboard’s warmongering lol. But also my S90V Military and M390 PM2 are no slouches either...

Re: On the Variations in the Ricasso of the Paramilitary 2

Thanks FK, that’s interesting and sounds entirely reasonable, but the date code on the Bento is JP (Oct ‘16 if I’m right?), so unless the blank was cut way back when and just assembled for the 2016 run, it seems like it’s a newer knife. Also, the lettering on the display side (Spyderco M390) is nice...

On the Variations in the Ricasso of the Paramilitary 2

First, my apologies in being too thick to figure out how to do pic-hosting or whatever to make pics small enough to attach so that I could illustrate what I’m writing about, but I’m sure we all have our own knives to compare, and there are enough pics online already. I’ll try to describe things as c...

Re: Do people tend to exaggerate steel performance?

Yes. When someone says they go 6 months without sharpening s110v I wonder if they do anything with it aside from open letters on weekends. I work in a restaurant/bakery and use my S110V PM2 many, many times in a day. Lots of cardboard, lots of cutting board perpendicular contact, etc. When I get ho...
