Light Weight LC200N Kapara

Any interest in a light weight LC200N kapara? Would it be FRN or G10, linerless lockback or compression?

Re: Perrin PPT

I have the newer s90v carbon fiber, very beautiful knife, but also a bit of a paper weight being very dense. Too heavy for me to put in my pocket, but the heft adds intrigue, it stays in my desk and I enjoy handling it.

Re: The Chaparral is a large knife

Blade is strong enough for whittling and cardboard, but the knife itself is thin and smallish in hand, a thicker and larger knife handle would better accommodate cutting a lot of cardboard.

Re: The Chaparral is a large knife

The thing about the Chap is how much blade you get for the package, no wasted space in those scales!

Re: Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos

1. Caribbean-serrated: This is my everyday carry, it is the most useful knife ever used, it is not my favorite knife, but I would say it is my second favorite. 2. PM2: all of the steels I love, maybe Cruwear the least, Maxamet the most, the M390's class next. The Golden Colorado comp locks are a tru...

My Co-Pilot stays a queen! However I do have a salt Dragonfly, I really like it, I like the challenge, sometimes less is more.

I don't mean to derail this thread but man I want one of those, it really seems like Spyderco has a winner in that one.
This is a winner, just wished it were a Golden Colorado production, seems like their compression locks are more advanced.

Re: Kapara, strong compression lock

Yes mine is very hard to depress, and the detent too stiff, blade would not fall closed with lock depressed, tried adjusting the pivot, but then there was blade play, which I could not get rid of, sent in to be repaired. Other than these two problems I love this knife. I'm hoping it will feel more l...

Also throwing out nibs that are slightly worn will help.

Re: Black Yojimbo 2

I just won't waste my money on anything that isn't AT LEAST as durable as DLC, since even DLC can get scratched off. I've had way too many cheap coated knives that ended up looking like they were dragged through a field of sandpaper. My Para 2 held up like a champ so I wouldn't hesitate to buy anot...

Re: Black Yojimbo 2

When I received the brown scaled Yojimbo, which has the black DLC, I was stunned by it's presence, I did not think I was going to like any blade coated, but the blade was S90V, and I had to have it regardless of coating. For those who have not touched one, photos are not able to offer the same exper...

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary in LC100N and FRN: My new grails.

The para family in LC100N with ceramic pivot is a wonderful idea, being able to rinse and shake dry after use without possible contamination from a less than clean drying cloth makes food prep on the go a breeze,... prefer G10, would be happy with FRN.

Re: Para 3 vs paramilitary 2

Steels aside, you ultimately need to hold each knife in hand and decide what feels better and fits better in your hand. I appreciate the Para 3, and own the Cruwear model, but will not ever buy another, and will probably sell the one I have eventually. For my grip the PM2 is so much more comfortabl...

Re: Para 3 vs paramilitary 2

The Para 2&3 are by far may favs of all my fifty some knives. Maxamet is my favorite blade, closely followed by s90v, m390, 52100. I have had only a Native 5 in s110v, it was my least favorite Spyderco, didn't stay super sharp very long. The smooth compression lock action, open back, & blade...

Re: 2018 Alistair Phillips!

After having the Kapara a couple weeks, I still love it's aesthetic, but the non buttery PM2-3 opening/closing still bugs me, which is also true for my Caribbean, PM2's and 3's remain King. It's a knife, not a toy bud. Enjoy it for what it does! Can't wait to get me one of these masterpieces. Using...
