Re: ZDP 189
Caly 3.5 in ZDP is high on my want list. It looks like an extremely ergonomic, useful, and beautiful knife.

The Delica will never die.
I've seen a lot of talk about this knife or that being a Delicakiller. I'm here to stick up for our dear old Delica. First it's worth noting how iconic something has to be for it to be discussed in this fashion. Second, even if a knife comes out that is similar to another knife, and at a similar pri...

Re: Who's for replacing ZDP-189 with HAP40 laminate in regular production?
ZDP is also a very unique steel with fine grain structure. It's not just another working edge steel reliant on vanadium. I'd hate to see it go. Great point. We should be doing everything we can to preserve the amazing selection of steels we have available to us these days. And I went back and check...

Re: Who's for replacing ZDP-189 with HAP40 laminate in regular production?
Spyderco is the only place in town if you want ZDP-189. That's really cool. ZDP-189 also has very good fine edge holding. I'm all for HAP40 as well, preferably unlaminated, but not if it means wiping out ZDP.

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again
I think a very large percentage of "chip issues" are the result of "burr issues", and I'm also speaking from past (novice) experience. I agree, or some other form of user error, whether in sharpening or in use. On occasion the "burnt" factory edge may to blame, but sof...

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again
One man’s chippy steel is another man’s high hardness true love. Good point, but I don't think that high hardness necessarily correlates with chippyness. A lot of time the harder a steel gets the greater it's edge stability gets. Who wants a soft steel that rolls easily? I think maximizing resistan...

I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again
There has been a lot of discussion on YouTube lately about Rockwell hardness of production knives. A hero out there named Kurt (Curt?) has been doing Rockwell testing for a number of youtubers. Steels from Spyderco like REX45 and K390 have been earning high praise for scoring in the upper limits of ...

Re: Para 3 Lightweight Exclusive/Sprint Hopes
How about some HAP72, Vanax Superclean, Nitrobe 77, 15v, s390? I'd also be happy with M4, Cruwear, s90v, Maxamet, k390, 4v... Neon green? Teal? Pastels? Translucent colors would be cool. White?

Re: BladeHQ Exclusive Native 5 Linerless Natural G10 DLC CPM-M4
I'm still drooling over this one. Haven't been carrying a 3 inch blade since I got my police 4. My previous go to Para 3's fun fidget factor started to seem more of an annoyance after getting accustomed to the Spyderco backlock. Every time the blade bounces open instead of a full smooth close I feel...

Re: 20 CV / M390 VS ZDP-189
I value ZDP-189 a lot more than m390 right now. A) it's much more rare. There are only 2 companies producing knives in ZDP. 1 is Spyderco, the other cost about $1000 each. B) ZDP has a much higher Rockwell hardness, meaning it will retain its ultra high levels of sharpness longer, an attribute at th...
