Re: Difficult time to make a burr on spy-27
I had this problem with my SPY27 Para 3 at first. I persevered, analyzed, and concluded the issue was technique and geometry related, not steel composition or heat treat related. I think possibly the knife came with a barely detectable microbevel, or I was just off my game, impatient, or something o...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
I've got a feeling this is going to be essentially a "factory regrind", nothing more and nothing less. Different blade grind geometry to slice better, that's it. That's all most of use were really asking for. Thinner grinds. This will give users the opportunity to see the benefits of thin...

K390, 4v, Vanax, Maxamet... I'd say those are your true production supersteels at the moment. They are all really good at one thing, and better at the others than they should be.

Re: Polished Edge: When, Why, What Steels??
I sharpen most my knives to a high polish because there us nothing more satisfying then an effortless slice. When the blade glides through material with almost zero force it gives me a certain satisfaction. I know that polished edge won't last as long as a coarser edge for most uses, but I thorough...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement
Any more news or details on this project? I am super excited for this particular release, and quietly hoping they "performance" enhance their entire lineup, save purpose driven releases focused on toughness or hard use or what have you. The "performance" package is the ideal conf...

Spyderco stones in guided sharpening system formats
Any reason Spyderco doesn't start offering their stones in 1x6 and/or 1x4 formats? There are a couple dealers who custom cut and mount Spyderco stones for Edge Pro & KME use and they typically sell out quickly.
I'd love their new cbn stones in a 1x6. I think they'd sell well.

Red/orange/yellow zome, or some kind of layered contoured g10 configuration. The greatest steel discovery since powdered metals deserves a bit of flare and showmanship.

I am a patron. Rarely have time to keep up but am happy to contribute none the less. Knife science, advancements, and general steel geekery is a passion of mine and I'm glad I can make a small contribution to the cause.

Re: Visa vie, chaparral action and lock up... um.. ok yes the lockup is solid, but the lockbar kind of just falls into place with a whimper... it doesn't snap into place with the usual thwack of a Native or a Police. Disengaging the lockbar is a chore and the blade doesn't move, a good bit of wrist ...

Re: XL Chaparral
Chaparralarge? Yes please. Keep the blade stock the same thinness, and CQI the action... that is vague, but you know what I mean... opening, closing, and lockup are totally different than most of their other back locks. Maybe a longer, and therefore heavier blade would help improve the action by def...

Re: It would be really cool if Spyderco could switch from 8Cr13MoV for budget blades to 14C28N
I think Spyderco could switch to 14c28n if they wanted to. 14c28n is clearly the best all around budget steel, and any price increase would almost surely pale in comparison to the increase in performance we would see.

Re: Where Balance Point?
I picked 8, but if there was a "it doesn't really matter" option I would have chosen that. I can feel a slight difference in hand for #8 knives, they tend to feel lighter than they are, but for the most part, our arms and hands are strong enough to manipulate 2-5oz knives just the same no ...

Yes, count me in, with the exception of making it bombproof. There are not overly thick, poor cutting fixed blades out there. Give me a neck knife/etc. designed to cut and I'm all for it.

Perfect combo, but given my surplus of Cruwear knives, I'd rather see it in 4v.

I don't think so. This configuration will be a lot more attractive and well received, IMO.Tabo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 4:42 pmhttps://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco- ... ve--126444
Wonder if it will sell as slow as the Cutlery Shoppe version.
