Re: Chaparral Raffir Noble vs Vrango

I have no version of the Chaparral. The Vrango is much more useful than it might appear. My index finger (medium-glove hands) runs almost the length of the spine, allowing for very tight control over the tanto portion of the blade, using it a bit like an x-acto knife. I find the recurve works well f...

Principles and values are ok. Politics and parties re off limits, please. sal I removed the first part of my post. I didn't initially think much of discussing changes in the law over time, but you are correct, that is politics if for no other reason than politicians changed them. I will endeavor to...

Re: Employment

However deplorable the OP's grammar, I have to give him credit for being willing to take a stand that negatively effects him. In addition (and this is key) he at no time insists that you must do the same, nor does he complain about his loss of income . He calls people sheep for believing in persona...

I assume it's a way to sell $0.99 computer case thumbscrews for $11.99. Or maybe it helps with the spydie-drop? Move over Emerson-Wave, here comes the Canuck-Chunk!

Re: Do you think the delica is still relevant?

Benchmade had added G-10 variations to regular production Griptilians....I'd like to see Spyderco put some G-10 on the Delica and Endura and make them a regular catalogue item. I'd just point out the Benchmade G10 grip is almost 75% more expensive than the base Griptillian (MSRP of $215 vs $120). T...

Was going to state the same thing, but since I’m a newb I didn’t know if there was something I missed.

So you are saying “yep” to being US based?
I read it as he bought $400 worth of stuff, one of the stuff was a Spydie, not that he paid $400 for a 52100 PM2.

This steel is in production with Spyderco currently, right? I've seen people post pictures of the UKPK with the blade marked "CTS BD1N".

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Brown FRN Endura4 is $63.30 shipped direct from Amazon.

I've found so many deals here, hopefully this is helpful to someone.

Wal-Mart has a manix 2 plain edge g-10 c101gp2 for $92 and change
Amazon has it at the same price, if one retailer is preferable to someone over the other.

Re: Why not more PPT style (end mount) clips Sal

Buck uses this style of clip on knives like the Vantage and Marksman. They have a tendency to bend and get loose.

Re: Are there two hand opening locking knives by Spyderco?

I just wanted to chime in from the peanut gallery and say the detailed information you gave relating to your choices in the messerforum thread was very interesting to read, even for someone who has very few knife laws to worry about (just automatics really). I also thought it was interesting that ma...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Vrango at ~$110 is crazy, but I already bit at $135 a week ago. It's really a gorgeous little knife. Edit: I struggled with the idea of the GB2, Foundry, even the PITS but ultimately just grabbed the drop point UKPK for $44. It has really nice snappy action to the detents, decent steel and cuts well...

Since almost all of them have been tributes to locks designed by other makers/companies, what about a McHenry-Williams axis-lock Sage, now that the patent is expired?

Re: What impact will the steel tariff have on knives?

I was wondering what (if any) impact this might have? Will knives made in China and Italy now be more expensive than Golden made models? I believe he's only proposing tariffs on raw materials, not finished goods. So the China, Taichung, Seki-City, and Italian Spyderco's shouldn't cost more. What mi...

Re: Please Sal!

After handling all models I’m really wishing for a sprint run native 5 with compression lock. I'd just point out, they recently removed the liners from the Native 5 G10 as part of CQI. A compression lock would require the liners to be put back in. Personally I think the backlock is perfect for the ...

Re: Primary steel choice: S30V vs S35VN vs CTS-XHP

I'd just point out that most Cold Steel knives are made in Taiwan. It may be that CTS-XHP is simply hard to get in Taiwan . The majority of Spyderco knives that are made in XHP are also Taichung knives. Perhaps there is/was some supplier that put in the effort to get the steel there, and now they do...

Hi Nick. We have no intention of changing our mfg methods with screw construction. Never thought to. Customers taking knives apart and then returning them for a ref...

Re: Taking apart knives

I've read without registering here for a bit, but figured now was time to make an account. The thread title and much conversation is about taking knives apart in general. The main point Sal seems to make is that people who disassemble knives, reassemble them (poorly or not) and then return them cost...
