Re: which is your ergonomic masterpiece?
The bushcraft/proficient and the Bill Moran are masterpieces. Handle design of fixed blades is a "solved" problem as far as I'm concerned. One of these two designs is optimal for any similarly sized knife.

Re: Temporal Edge Retention
The exact mechanism of why it moves is not known. However there are some clues that could be in understanding more about the elastic/plastic transition of knife steels on a microscopic scale since bulk properties of a material can be different than on a microscopic scale. could it be the metal expa...

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient
I really like the idea of an accessible version even if made in mainland China. My favorite part of the design is the impeccable ergos and not so much the blade steel. If a China-made proficient/bushcraft came out at a similar price point as the bow river it would be a no-brainer purchase for me. Th...

Re: What's your "dream" spyderco? What combo of design/materials would you love to see?
Proficient in MagnaCut. Oh I forgot about this. I would gladly take this if magnacut is, as many credible people are suggesting, a stainless cruwear. I know Sal said the cruwear proficient didn't get put into production because it would've necessitated a premium price tag. I think the new-steel hyp...

spyderco proficient in 4v(but i'd definitely take cruwear as a consolation prize)

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient
I didn’t realize the Crucarta version was an attempt to get the price lower than the S90V model. I thought it was just a better steal for a bushcraft type blade. I expected to and was ready to spend similar funds, any cheaper would’ve been icing on the micarta. ;) Same. I'm really bummed out the pr...

Re: The perceived need for instantaneous one hand operation has driven folding knife design into a dead end
I strongly prefer a knife that has one handed opening when it is legally possible. I don't see how having such a feature presents any downside so not having it would be a negative. the speed of opening doesnt matter to me though.

Re: Anyone else dislike the wire pocket clip?
I love the wire clip. I love it more than pretty much any object, concept or actual person. If I had to choose between the wire clip and continuing to breath air, thereby allowing me to conduct my basic life functions, I would be in a really difficult position. A lot of people say "god, family ...

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient
I am one of the people who finds that polished micarta actually seems to "stick" to my hand in a really positive, secure way. Even if it didn't the handle on the bushcraft/proficient is simply "perfect" and has no need for texture in my opinion. Theres no such thing as a deal bre...

Re: Sharpening a Knife
I know what my next stone will be! I also want one of those fancy ones BBB has, but they be 'spensive! Bonded CBN is utterly game-changing. I've had the resin-bonded version for over a year. No question it's expensive but it's such a dramatic performance increase that you just won't go back to conv...
