Re: Generational Classifications: Do You Identify?

A Most interesting subject matter. You hear these labels for the generations being thrown around a lot in conversations recently. I think that there is a case to be made that most of the people who lived through the World War II era may have been the toughest generation this country was ever blesse...

My brother and I are Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers only refers to the number of people born in hose years. Birth rates were BOOMING. I try to remain aware of new healthcare, computer and communications technologies, services, and players in the market. I'm a true American and eat a wide variety of food...

Re: Social networks vs. forums - possible return of content to the forums?

I've never been on Facebook, but it always seemed odd to me that they would hate knives so much. Maybe they are just hyper paranoid. Take a look at what they spend on personal security for CEO's. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-much-bodyguards-security-costs-ceos-mark-zuckerberg-tim-cook-2023-3...

Re: Social networks vs. forums - possible return of content to the forums?

I quit Facebook many years ago, maybe 3+ years ago. Too many people who you do not know wanting to befriend you to read and see who you follow if you have your acct set to private. An interesting turn of events was that I had people that I do not know asked to be able to follow me who apparently are...

I can see a 4-Pack. If I want to see a 6-Pack I have to open the refrigerator! :winking-tongue Just joking. I only drink 1 to 2 times a year and right now this house is dry. Drinking will not help me when I am cutting calories. I'll celebrate when I hit 170lbs! You will reach your goal, I'm sure of...

Stuff the "Masters" Won't Tell You https://youtu.be/_EB1S4EXyME?si=gL3A1V8VGx6V2Ls9 Jim I don't know that I ever called it the bounce, maybe the tap. It's advanced. It is used a lot in knife arts while sparring with rattan, which in reality is a machete. Machetes and knives are too danger...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

Sole proprietorships, businesses, corporations and governments of all sizes are going to have to develop fool-proof ways to transact for services, materials, etc., because AI is being used to dupe the unwary. Tie AI deep fake voice and phone ID spoofing and you have a major issue. Anyone can pretend...

Re: Civilian sharpening angle

Possibly disregard my statement based on your desire to sharpen to a "mirror shine" but better cutting may be had by stopping at 600 to 800 grit according to metallurgist Dr Larrin Thomas. I think Larrin said at around 600 grit maximum cutting efficiency was achieved. Somebody here may be ...

It sounds like you're in good shape Jim. I posted my comment for our fellow couch potatoes. I'm trying to get them to act in their best interest. I would say I'm in decent shape. Especially compared to back when I was a training junkie. I still have a 6-pack, but it's hidden under a little bit of f...

The first thing he discusses is kinda funny, IMO. Gross, but funny. The incident he discusses where AI was used to frame the school principal is among the types of stuff that really bothers me: https://youtu.be/gl4_dX_tJT8?si=n9boM_pkeZ5DGGq6 Jim I forwarded that video to everyone that I know, but ...

Re: Where Artificial Intelligence Is Right Now

Militaries will begin to put AI in charge of various things. That will go well. Then, more advanced AI will be put in charge of other things. One day, AI will have its figurative finger on the nuclear missile button. Also, AI will eventually take over the role of ambassador to other nations, who in...

Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?

I have not been fishing lately but upon inspection of my tackle box I see thin and pointy knives. To remove the fish bones, scales and organs you may need a Native Chief. For hunting you need a tip that has a less acute tip to the knife. I plan to pick up at least 2 Magnacut Native Chiefs. Excellent...

I hope that this knife does well. I may pick up a Bodacious and a Shaman, and I'd really like to see them in a 4.25 inch blade too.

Re: The XHP knives.

S90V Hundred Pacer sounds interesting. If it comes back, I'd prefer a back-lock as I am not a fan of the lock it had.

I too am very sorry that I did not pick one or two up when they were around. It is one of my favorite blade profiles ever.
