When used to influence, persuade, create in a less than honorable way. When I ask AI political questions, it's easy to see the bend of the program. I'm concerned th...

Re: Happy birthday 'The Meat man!'

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the well-wishes. I know I'm not as active here as I used to be, but I still check in about every day. ;) My twin sister came over with her family in the evening for a joint celebration so we had a great time. Dan, cube that steak and pile it with sauteed onions and...

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???

I don't think there's anything wrong with the steel - the tip geometry on the Military is extremely fine so care is needed regardless of the steel used - and bumping the edge into glass will damage any steel.

Man, sorry to hear that! Was there any particular reason she turned to drugs/alcohol so quickly? (Not that you need to share it here, just asking the natural question.) It's hard to imagine someone who is physically and mentally active as you say she was, suddenly abandoning that overnight for no re...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!

Good to hear there are more coming! I hope I can get one. I tried this morning, but the internet was super slow, I had forgotten my account info so had to create a new one, and then when I finally got to checkout, I was blocked because I was using a VPN (the only way I can be online at work.) Oh well!

Re: Your Spyderco Christmas Eve And Christmas Day EDC, 2023

Merry Christmas everyone!

Tomorrow I'll probably be carrying what I did today - Manix 2 LW Maxamet - unless I feel like being fancy and carrying my Shirogorov F95 Vanax.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

I cut open some bags of softener salt with my Maxamet Manix 2 LW. I recently started carrying it again after EDC'ing the St Nick's CPM 4V Millie ever since they were released (I forget when that was.) Maxamet's good stuff.

Just finished reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
I don't think I've ever read a book more weighted with hopelessness, grief, loss, horror, brutality, and despair.

Re: What Are You Reading ?

Started The Gallic Wars by Julius Caesar. So far, an interesting read.

At a book store recently I picked up The Twelve Caesars by Suetonius, and The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I'll be starting on those sometime soon.

Finished Blood Meridian over the weekend. It's well-written, brings you up close and face-to-face with some pretty dark things. A thought-provoking book which I enjoyed.

Re: What Are You Reading ?

Doc, have you ever read any of Andrew Klavan's books? If not I have a feeling you'd enjoy them. I especially like his more recent Another Kingdom trilogy, and the new and on-going Cameron Winter series. They're the kind of books that are hard to put down - fast paced and action packed, but with a l...

The Andromeda Galaxy and State of Fear by Michael Crichton. I've read maybe 6 or 7 of Crichton's books and been disappointed by all of them except for Jurassic Park , which is my favorite science fiction novel hands down. These two were better than I expected and I enjoyed reading them. The only tw...
