Re: 2022 Spyderco Forum Calendar Contest

I have an iPhone 11 will the standard settings produce a photo of usable resolution for the contest? The actual size of your photo should be ok. As long as you don't zoom and crop too much. It's the DPI that will need adjusted. My iPhoneX is only 75dpi. But you can use a photo resizer to get to 300...

Re: Can I sharpen steel x with a Sharpmaker? The answer is yes!

When it was time for me to reprofile my Manix 2 S110V I had already invested in a KME. It did a great job reprofiling it, but it's not something I want to set up every time I need a touch-up. I used my Sharpmake to put a micro-bevel on it. Working with a reprofiled edge and just putting a micro beve...

Re: Why did you join?

I've owned Spyderco Knives since the mid-90's when my wife first bought me one as a gift. I loved that knife and still have it but I don't carry it anymore. Over the years she continued to buy me Spyderco knives and a small collection grew. For some reason, she loved to buy me SE knives and I rarely...

as i've said in previous threads on this topic, i'd personally prefer a lil native salt with full liners, a comp lock, and g10, but i think i'm in the minority there.
That would be my preference as well!

LC200N Lil' Native

My Lil' Native Rex 45 is becoming one of my favorite and most carried knives.

Has there been any interest or talk about a Lil' Native in LC200N?

I have Native 5 Salt and it's fine but I like the Lil' Native size better and have come to like it more than my Dragonfly Salt.

Washing machine!

I can't be the only one that has let a Spyie go through the washing machine in their pants. I'm embarrassed to say it's happened so many times, I can't remember all of them that went through. I do know my McBee has gone through at least 2 or 3 times. The majority of my knives are Salt series or at l...

The Lil' Native variant I want!

Made an impulse buy several months ago and picked up a Lil' Native Rex 45 Sprint. It's my first Lil' Native and I love it! I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. I know I'm not alone in wanting this knife in LC200N, BUT I would love to see it with Caribean Scales. I have a Sheepsfoot PE Car...

Knife Block

I was on the hunt for some new steak knives. After an exhaustive search, I settled on a set of Walco Boston Chop knives. Apparently these are used by high end steakhouses. I had to buy them from a restaurant supply store and they only came in sets of 12. Our knife block only had room for 6 but when ...

Re: Spyderco kitchen knives?

My issue buying Spyderco Kitchen Knives is that for the kitchen, I want a full matching set with a wooden block. I was hoping the Murray Carter collection would be it, but it's a few knives short of what I'd want in a set, no block and $1,500ish for 5 knives, a bit too steep. I would spend $1,500 to...

Comandante Grinder - Nitrogen Steel

So I stumbled upon this high end manual coffer grinder. The description says: Manufacturing a Nitro Blade is a serious engineering task which requires special tools and machinery, excellent craftsmanship and lots of experience. High-nitrogen martensitic steel is extremely difficult to work with. But...

Vacation Knives

Getting ready for my family's annual trip to the OBX. A week of salt and sand. A few years ago my first ever salt series got a major workout living in my shorts for the week, a Pacific Salt. Last year I donated my second Dragonfly Salt to the ocean. Hopefully I'll return home with all of them this t...

What brings you more joy?

I've been thinking about this for quite a while. I have some Spyderco's that are "hard" use (not abuse) and they have the battle scars that show it. I also have some that I carry and use very lightly. The kind that if the need arises to cut something serious and it's in my pocket, I might ...
