It's About Time For: A Full SE Catcherman

I'm starting a new series of threads and I'm hoping that others will share my desires. The Title i.e. It's About Time For: indicates the desire for the return of certain past models that have gained cult status or consistent popularity as time has gone by. In this first thread I was wanting to see h...

Re: Cruwear pitting, and repeated spot corrosion problem

Nitric acid and citric acid are both used for passivation, but you already have pitting. Hey "Larrin" are there any "passivation" methods that can be implemented by a lay person? Because I feel that corrosion is enemy of every good blade. Also over the years I've had good result...

Re: Serrated Edge for Hunting?

I tried serrations for hunting and personally didn't like them. But I also don't like serrations in general. I've heard this type of comment from a lot of outdoorsmen over the years. And to some extent I can see why they come to this conclusion. But do keep in mind that the serration pattern on a b...

Re: Building a Custom Knife for Sal: CPM S60V

Most interesting that you bring up CPM S60V ( 440V) blade steel. I do agree with several of your observations regarding issues like being a nightmare to sharpen and being somewhat undesirable for PE blades. But I still regard 440V as one of my personal top 5 favorite blade steels for full SE models....

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

Unfortunately, some of the SE Ayoobs were more like wavy PE. I know mine was. Otherwise, yeah, they would have been great. That could most certainly be corrected if they elected to produce more C-60 Ayoob models. I've got one of those slightly altered versions you speak of. It's has however been an...

Re: VG10 HRC

Even though I've been really intrigued by a couple of the newer Supersteel blades in the Spyderco line up I've always kept quite a few Spyderco VG-10 models in my user arsenal. VG-10 is a great dependable "Hard Use" blade steel that is relatively easy to maintain. You can get a really nice...

Re: NFL 2023-2024 Season

It's like the Chiefs are King Midas and Pittsburgh is King Midus in reverse 🙄 It's good to be a Chiefs fan It wasn't always that way. The Schottenheimer years from 88 to 99 were a constant ongoing disappointment. The teams were great during the regular season but they always choked in the playoffs....

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

The Ark was initially released in both plain edge and serrated edge. The serrated model was discontinued in 2021 though. (Maybe due to slow sales) The more I use my full SE, C-60 Cruwear Ayoob it is rapidly becoming my all time favorite full SE blade. I've been using one for a main EDC for well ove...

Re: Out Of Production Fixed Blade

I did get the privilege to test drive a TEMP 2 once upon a time thanks to a great Spyder-Brother. And I do hope some day that I can snag one at some point. But I must say that it's predecessor the TEMPERANCE 1 model is to this day my favorite Spyderco fixed blade up till now. The two TEMP 1 models t...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

While the initial release of the ARK was PE only, a fully serrated version was produced (and then discontinued). Outstanding little cutter. I would most definitely love to see a Serrated version of the ARK model. That would be one interesting hard use blade in SE. The ARK is one of at least 15 mode...

Re: G-10 Hawkbill Anyone?

I'd go for a g10 spyderhawk Yes indeed!! and I wouldn't want to stop at the Spyderhawk model. I have such good memories of my G-10 Harpy and have been wanting another G-10 Harpy ever since mine got stolen. And I can't understand why there hasn't been more G-10 Harpy models since then. It is one of ...

Re: CRUWEAR Is now my Favorite SE blade steel

I really like my SE Ayoob, but I LOVE my Cru-wear Manix 2 sprint run, a serrated Cru-Wear Manix would be an instant buy for me, maybe two of them! IMG_3571.jpeg A full SE Manix in Cruwear makes a ton of common sense. Another Eric Glesser design I would love to see in Cruwear SE would be the Dodo mo...

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE

We need that military 2 SE to drop YES!!! & AMEN to a full SE Military 2 model. It must absolutely must happen!! But I also still want another full SE CATCHERMAN and a full SE TEMPERANCE 1 model as well. And let's add a full SE CAPTAIN model to the mix along with Jason Breeden's RESCUE model in...

Re: CRUWEAR Is now my Favorite SE blade steel

Would love to try it! Think we can get it in a full production model? Hamilton I have raised that issue on several occasions. I know that Spyderco typically doesn't like the re-release older models. But the C-60 Ayoob is an exception as far as overall design and ergonomics are concerned. It's most ...

Re: NFL 2023-2024 Season

Wentz can still be a decent back up for if whatizface gets dinged for a game or two. Wentz has a lot of experience and knowing he is a back up and not a franchise with all that stress can do a lot of the stuff on the sideline and in the film room to help carry the burden. Well maybe it will be a go...

CRUWEAR Is now my Favorite SE blade steel

I know it's maybe not completely fair and rational to judge the performance of a blade steel by using only one serrated Spyderco model. But the C-60 full SE CRUWEAR blade is very similar to working with a real life "LASER" And it sharpens up very nicely as well. And Cruwear is also a great...
