Re: EXTREMELY disappointed with Spyderco. Update: Resolved!
Very curious to see if OP gets an actual premium knife in his $400 mystery box now.

Re: Mystery Box
Spyderco makes a lot more knives I don't like than knives I do like, so buying a mystery box was never even a consideration for me. I do think it was a bit misleading on Spyderco's part to say the $400 boxes would contain a premium knife when the majority of the $400 boxes I've seen posted do not co...

Re: Will the FO sharpen factory seconds?
Spyderco's official policy is that factory seconds are not eligible for the factory warranty or sharpening service. If you want to rely on the outlet sharpening your knives for you, you'll just need to buy full priced knives.

I think your stones must be worn out. I just recently reprofiled a Maxamet Para 3 using Hapstone CBN Start stones and I couldn't believe how easy it was.

Re: River's Edge PM2
Got mine today. Worst lock stick I've experienced with a PM2 to date. Everything else looks good aside from the edge grind being 20ish degrees on one side and 15ish degrees on the other. That seems to be the norm with Golden Spyderco's now.

Re: River's Edge PM2
That's a ridiculous take for a 3.5" folding knife...I love tool steels as much as the next fella, but saying there is something inherently wrong with well heat-treated M390/204P/20CV in an EDC folder is just asinine. I look forward to all of the forthcoming evidence showing that the M390 class...

Re: River's Edge PM2
This is the coolest colored exclusive Spyderco has ever done, so I had to grab one despite not being a big fan of 204P. I've never heard anyone say they're not a fan of 204P. Do you mean you're not a fan of 204P compared to 20CV and/or M390, or do you just not like any of those types of steel? And ...

Re: Venting about Tanto PM2.. again.
I'm betting they will be relisting QC issue returns over the next week or two, so they should be coming back in stock pretty regularly. rather odd statement on a couple levels... putting aside your implication toward vendor i don't recall this tanto model having a reputation for qc issues and i hav...

Re: Share your experience with 15V
15V has quickly become my favorite steel. Been carrying a PM2 in it all summer and I'm a pretty sweaty dude. Doesn't show any sign of corrosion or patina. Stays sharp for a ridiculously long time (comparable to Maxamet in that regard) and is extremely easy to sharpen (with Hapstone CBN stones). Burr...

Re: Knife trends you just don't understand?
I had no idea sharpening was such an issue for people. I am a novice sharpener at best, and had no trouble getting my Maxamet Para 3 back to hair shaving sharp on CBN stones. It actually sharpened up surprisingly fast and I had no issue getting the factory unsharpened heel sharpened to match the res...

Re: Venting about Tanto PM2.. again.
If it makes you feel any better I'm seeing a lot of initial reports of quality control issues with this release. Many of them appear to have very unevenly ground blades. So on the bright side you may have missed out on having to deal with that.

Spyderco knives are very easy to take apart and put back together. There are tons of videos on YouTube with step by step instructions.

The general vibe this forum gives off lately:
"I don't like how people enjoy their knives and I'm angry about it."
It's no wonder a lot of folks have moved on.
