Thanks, FK. What's an SE blade? Cerrated?
Socmonkey and Vivi- thank you for responding.
I may have to resort to a protractor and will also compare to another unit.

Sharpmaker rod angle
I've got the sense the left rod (30º angle) is slightly different (greater) than the right angle rod on my Spyderco Sharpmaker. Not so much visually, but by the way the rod fits into the triangle hole, and by the friction of sharpening on the left side as compared to the right. I realize this is an ...

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?
Blurple PM 2 gets the most carry, with Yojimbo 2 for special (non-gun carrying) occasions. No reason not to carry both at once as they are both phenomenal knives. The PM 2 can somewhat do what the Y2 does, and somewhat vice versa, but I like to keep the Y2 pristine and ready.

Re: Companion for Yojimbo 2 or PM2
The chipping of S110V has me considering other steels. I've been frustrated with chipping and rolling on my Blurple after only light cutting tasks. That's said, other folks here and in the forums mentioned that is probably due to the factory edge (I've only had the knife a month or so) and once I've...

Re: Companion for Yojimbo 2 or PM2
Thank you for the comments.
I'm returning the Benchmades. Nice knives, just not in the league with Spyderco in my opinion.
Dragonfly 2 is definitely on my radar- I like trying new-to-me steel so the ZDP is exciting.

Re: Companion for Yojimbo 2 or PM2
I would be derelict in my duties if I didn't suggest the new Hawkbill DFly in SE H1. Coming soon apparently. ZDP DFly is very nice though, and I think well worth the cost of the upgrade from vg-10 IMHO, if you don't want to wait for the new one that is :D I read about the lower corrosion resistance...

Re: Companion for Yojimbo 2 or PM2
Do you mean the Baby Horn Gray G-10? I'd never heard of it but just looked it up at your suggestion.
I'll have to research the N690Co steel on the Urban.

Companion for Yojimbo 2 or PM2
I'm looking for a smaller companion blade to my Yojimbo 2 or PM2. The Dragonfly 2 seems to fit some of the criteria. Can you please share your thoughts on VG-10 vs. ZDP-189? Also, how does the diminutive Dragonfly 2 compare to say, the Mini Griptilian? I find some Benchmade knives to be (feel) at le...

Re: Spyderco military 2
4-way carry is a no brainer. Just because the Military is great now, doesn't mean versatile clip orientation would somehow diminish the knife in any way. It works great on PM2 and would on Military 2. New steel wouldn't hurt either, although S30V is outstanding on my Military.

Re: Sage 5 benefits
The Manix 2 LW is on the radar as well, although the blade shape is slightly more similar to the PM2 than is the Sage 5. But, on the other hand, the S30V on the Sage is cake to sharpen and holds the edge pretty well in my experience. Many Spyderco blades look similar in general. I'm definitely inte...

Re: Sage 5 benefits
Nothing too crazy, but things like popping dog/cat food or soup cans (those aluminum tabs) to which I'd rather not expose the Yojimbo 2. Basic cardboard cutting tasks. Y2 could handle it but I want to keep the tip pristine. The Griptilian tanto is pretty well suited for the regular grunt tasks; jus...

Sage 5 benefits
I'm looking for something to ride shotgun with my Yojimbo 2. I've got the PM2 but I'm beginning to think I'd like something with a little more robust tip for some of the rougher tasks I might ask of it. So much so that I'm looking at a few tanto folders. The Sage 5 looks like a viable option- shorte...

Re: EDC knife for camping?
Realistically, for your prescribed conditions, the knife you want doesn't exist. What knife did you use that fit that criteria previously? Do we assume you are only carrying this one EDC knife while trekking for 10-14 days? I'd suggest you reevaluate. If a PM2 is too big, then you might consider add...

I bought the diamond rods for my Sharpmaker. I have a feeling they will make basic reprofiling a little easier. I plan to use them with a very light touch.

Re: S90V DLC Yojimbo 2 (coyote brown) Exclusive
Well heck... I wonder if my 2 week old Yojimbo 2 needs a brother. Of course I don't wonder. It's the sensible thing to do. Never hurts to have a back up. I plan on keeping my S30V Yo2 as a SD only knife. The S90V will be doing EDC work. :D Man I've wanted a back up for the Yo 2 for a while, JB Outm...

S110V rolling?
I've been using my PM2 in S110V for basic cutting; opening mail, packages etc... I just noticed that the tip had a rolled over edge, which was easily remedied on a diamond sharpener. But I even saw some minor chipping. I haven't used this hard yet, and all the slicing has been free of hitting metal ...
