Re: 2018 Spyderco Resolutions

I’ve been big into sharpening and have gotten a KME, and getting close to a mirror finish. I want to keep that up. And stop buying when I’m stressed at work.

Eh... agree to disagree? I would agree that it’s similar to a Swiss Army. But I hear you. Seriously though, I’m loving my Leatherman Skeletool because it’s a knife first, multitool second.

Mr. Sal, I hear a good idea brewing here!!!

I believe my last one is the K2. Found it in a local shop, passed on it, then a week later called them and asked if they still had it. Got it shipped for $169

M4 Millie is my first Millie. Can’t say enough good things about the knife as a whole. I haven’t really used the steel yet though. Just is so solid all over.

Amazing stuff here guys. I wouldn’t mind finding a Roman knife in Italy with a slice of pizza in hand.

Re: History of pocket knives

This is a very good question and is one of my favorite historical topics to discuss and study. Folding knives have been found as far back as the Roman, and, some think, Egyptian empires, but, as you said, you're main interest is in Pre 1900s to 1600s. The answer is an affirmative yes. The Europeans...

History of pocket knives

Anyone know if Europeans carried pocket knives back in the pre-modern era? I’m curious about pre-1900s to 1600s. Not interested in sword carrying Renaissance stuff.

Re: Spyderco/Farid K2

This thread was crazy. Just read through the whole thing. So much activity, one of the most I’ve seen from Sal and a maker. And then all of a sudden 2 years of radio silence and now the knife is discontinued. I didn’t really know about the K2 until I went to a semi-local knife shop a couple weeks ag...

Re: Is the Caly blade shape the best of all the other Spydercos?

I’m not a big fan of the leaf shape. Takes up too much pocket space for me and personally looks a bit goofy.

That being said I have the ZDP-189 CF and have the Super Blue sprint on order.

I discovered the K2 this weekend in a not-so-local shop. Why oh why didn't I buy it? I know, it's massive, but I just kept coming back to it!

Re: Spyderco Gratitude Giveaway

I’m grateful for levs18, a friend in real life. I’ve alwsys been a knife owner and fan, but I never knew anything about steel or different blade types or any of it. But he’s a major knife nut and has helped me learn a ton in just a year or so. Lance you’re a cool dude. And I think I’ll be getting my...

Aqua Salt for sure. There was another thread about an apocalypse single knife scenario.

In all honesty, if I had to go with a single knife in a life or death situation, I'd go with an Esee. I haven't destroyed one yet, and I've tried.

But I love my Aqua Salt!

Blade shape reforming

Any recommendations on how to go about having a Manix blade reshaped to be more like the griptillian or Spyderco Stretch? I'm in love with the FRN Manix scales and body with the BBL, but really don't like the leaf blade. Do you think I could do it myself with a dremel? How much would it cost to have...
