Re: Matriarch Blade Swap
Matriarch 2 maybe? Also an option, but the question remains as to whether there is some generational gap that contraindicates the swap, since the Matriarch FFG blade I have is based of the Endura 3 and the Matriarch 2 is based of the Endura 4. Are there any mods to the Matriarch handles to accommod...

Matriarch Blade Swap
Hello SpyderWorld!
I have a FFG Matriarch that I would love to carry more. My issue is the handle. It’s basically an Endurance 3 handle and my question is if it’s possible to swap the blade with and Endura 4?
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Re: Why we love the steels we love?
I can add HAP40 to the list as well. I always had a fondness for the steel because I remember my Ladybug being hair whittling sharp from the factory, which was the sharpest factory edge I have ever seen (V-Toku Delica may be a close second). Now that I have actually sharpened it, my oh my. I recentl...

Re: Dfly Rehab
LOL I promise this isn't the LW model. It must have been the angle or as others have suggested the edge detection. The scales cleaned up really nicely and I was able to work the chip out using the medium rods on 15. I followed it up with fine rods and some newspapers stropping. I'll upload an after ...

Re: Dfly Rehab
Haha I was wondering the same thing! The only thing I can think of was that he was mid-deploying the blade and dropped it on its back so the bar was exposed and chipped but the edge/tip were fine.

Re: Dfly Rehab
I recommend 15° for HAP40, but that'd take longer to do the job. Is the chip 0.5mm in length or depth? Do you have the CBN or diamond rods? Hey Atilla! It's .5mm in length. Depth is a fraction a mm. I just have the standard CBN medium and fine rods that come with the SM, and plenty of time to work ...

Re: Dfly Rehab
Update! There is a small chip, perhaps .5mm in the base of the edge near the choil. I have a standard sharpmaker. Will medium stones at 20 degrees work the chip out?

Thank you! Correct doesn't seem like a functional issue. Anything in particular with the brush? Soap and water? Something stronger?

Dfly Rehab
Hey everyone! I picked up this user HAP40 Dfly for a decent price, but it's in kind of rough shape. The scales need a good cleaning, any suggestions?
Also, there seems to be a chip in the backlock. Is my best bet to send it into Spyderco for some spa treatment?

Re: What’s your favorite or most used Spyderco?
My most used is either my Delica or my blue nishijin Spin. That little knife has taken everything I can throw at it and then some! It's a perfect coin pocket knife, super easy to clean and maintain!
My new favorite is the Superblue Caly Jr.

Why we love the steels we love?
Forgive me if this has already been discussed as it's own thread, but I searched "favorite steel" and could not find a thread in the first 10 pages, so here we go. A lot of times, the steels each get their own thread and for a novice like me it can get overwhelming searching through the pa...

Re: Help me choose my first Spydie
I'm going to echo what I said in the other post. I think the SpydieChef would be a compelling choice. No need to worry about rust, deep belly, I think it has everything to need for a hunting folder.
Maybe someone with more experience with the SpydieChef confirm, or contradict, this?

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
Haven't used mine too much, but my Delica was the sharpest factory edge I've seen on a Spyderco, followed perhaps by my Para 3 REX45 (which is comparable to HAP40.) It feels sharper than my HAP40 Ladybug was.

Re: Help me choose my first Spydie
Well, the Stretch was previously called the "hunter" for a reason! For your needs the Stretch in ZDP may be the one you're looking for. It's pretty lightweight. There are a whole line of fixed blades that may interest you as well. The mule has a similar shape to the Manix. Have you looked ...

Re: Spyderco Calypso Jr. Sprint Run Knife Gray (Aogami Super Blue)
The Calypso Jr was the original slicey Spyderco - I'd take a slightly cqi version in almost any steel Just opened mine up and all I have to say is, "Wow!" What a gorgeous knife. It may be the nicest Spyderco I have ever owned. The finishing on the blade is stunning. I wish the blade itsel...
