Always interested in a new Chinook.
I have one Chinook 3 and two Chinook 4's. I'll buy a Chinook 5. If I really like it I'll buy two.

Re: Chinook 5?
Compression lock sounds good to me. My only complaint about the Chinook 4 is that it is tip up only. Compression lock allows for four-way clip. (My vote would be to use the four-way Shaman clip, if Chinook 5 is made in USA.) Should be pretty light too, compared to the older models. Light enough that...

Re: Canada's knife laws just cost me almost $400.
Welcome to the club. This is why I only buy from Canadian dealers now.
I'm convinced the CBSA officer who plucked mine took it home. He fondles it when he isn't posing with his Px4 in front of the mirror.

Re: Congratulations Spyderco! American Made Knife of the Year!
There it is. Congrats on the award. Looks like a winner.
I'm still hoping we'll see a stop lock Military someday (Patent Military?). Probably one of the few, now. Compression lock has really taken off in the last 20 years.

Re: Spyderco Military Observations
The Military is my favorite folder out of all makes and models. In 2020 I offloaded half my collection and bought a brand new basic black G10 satin S30V (CQI updated) Military. That knife is my backup in case anything happens to older Military I've been carrying daily for many years. I haven't bough...

Re: Thick vs Thin handles
I like thicker myself. I always thought the Golden made knives had just the right thickness. I find the ones made in Japan, particularly the G10 models, to be a bit thin. This isn't so bad for a knife you take out and use for 13 seconds every third day, but for any lengthy job they can almost be pai...

Re: Thoughts on the Chinook 4?
I have two Chinook 4's. They are not for every day cutting tasks. They are for social work. They can be used for every day tasks in a pinch, but are not ideal. I usually carry another knife for regular tasks when carrying a Chinook. It's a nice enough knife. Solid construction. Power Lock is interes...

Re: Military Tanto poll
I'd rather see a regular fully serrated Military back in production than a tanto.

Re: Native Chief fan club!
I like it. I hope we get to see more variations in the future. I can't get dealer exclusives anymore (unless a Canadian dealer is willing to do one, maybe), so any sprint runs are welcome.

Looking forward to this steel, specifically in the Native lightweight platform. Hopefully someday I'll get a Military in SPY27 for my back pocket to match.

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
Straight razor traditionalists seem to prefer a pinned assembly. I'm on the fence for the reasons you have mentioned. The majority of old, turn of the century razors that were available had very common shared steels. Mostly Sheffield crucible steel. In this day and age, the razor users want to try ...

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
I'm in for one. I sometimes shave with a straight, depending on my mood. (Shaving with a straight is not for the tired, or the inebriated for that matter. The more you know... ) I have one of those newer Hart Steel razors, and an older Case Red Imp. Both are wedges, which is my preference. The Hart...

I'd buy one. I'd welcome any production Shaman in any variation. The sprints are hard to come by for us Canucks, and US dealer exclusives are now impossible to get.
