Re: Introduction with the Manix 2 Backlock
Thanks for the nice words Tom :) You all send me your knives and I'll be happy to review them :D Seriously, I got myself a Gayle Bradley 2 some months ago (mainly for the sake of owning a knife in M4) and I should do a write-up as well (not that the Internet lacks in complete reviews of the GB2); ma...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
If the cutting tasks that I perform routinely were gunking up my knife to the degree that disassembly was necessary, I would (personally) take that as an indication that a fixed blade would be a better option. I may be off the mark...wouldn't be the first time! :p True again, but as said at the sta...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
I think it will be a short lived fad. Ken’s name, CRKTs distribution and price structure will help drive sales for a while but I don’t think there are enough users who really need or want to disassemble their knives for cleaning. It’s a nifty idea but I don’t buy knives for maintenance. True, not s...

Re: CPM-M4 and the Sharpmaker
I can't say for re-profiling, but I just happened to resharpen my new Gayle Bradley 2 this afternoon - after a couple months of use I felt it didn't have that bite anymore. Simple touch-up trailing the edge on an ultra fine rod did not produce any noticeable improvement in sharpness (whereas that me...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
Somethings I’d want to know are, what is the magnitude of the problem? How many knives per month, for example, are needing spare parts in the EU? And, how many “foolproof take-apart” knives would be sold on average? What kind of knife would benefit from tool-less takedown and reassembly? Would the ...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
Yeah there are always more than one way to skin a cat. Apart from the fact i am opposed to the whole idea, since i will never be convinced of the 'need' to disassemble a knife, all i can think of are mechanically challenging constructions that i feel would defeat the purpose by adding more complexi...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
I think it's more the fact that, historically, guns have almost always been designed to be "user serviceable" while, until very recently, this has not been the case with knives. As little as 50 years ago a folding knife put together with screws, rather than pins or rivets, was the rare ex...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
Taking apart knives – part 2 I’d like to thank all of you for the great information on the issue mentioned. My primary purpose for the thread was more to raise awareness that it is a problem and hope that just the greater awareness would help contribute to reducing the problem. Many people didn’t e...

Re: Manix 154CM
Nothing wrong with 154CM -- I would be delighted to have a Manix 2 in 154CM and would consider hollow grind an interesting bonus. I think that 154CM is a great steel that doesn't get the respect it deserves. So if I could pick one up for $100 or less, I would snap it up. I had a Manix 2 in 154CM th...

Re: Manix2 Backlock!
Hi - My question is simple - it appears from searching the net that there seems to be a few happy owners of this knife, and found a few threads discussing it. But what is odd is that nobody took the time to write a user review about it! There are literally two reviews out on a Google search - I thi...
