Congrats on the Phoenix. It looks fantastic.
I don’t really do grails. Last few I picked up:
Hundred pacer, spyderhawk salt, black and green Lum tanto fixed blade.

Re: I never want to hear about "chippy" steel ever again

One man’s chippy steel is another man’s high hardness true love. Good point, but I don't think that high hardness necessarily correlates with chippyness. A lot of time the harder a steel gets the greater it's edge stability gets. Who wants a soft steel that rolls easily? I think maximizing resistan...

Re: Which Spyderco Haunts You Most?

Spyderco Temperance fixed blade, all the B.S. talk putting down VG-10 kept me from buying it and now that I know better about VG-10 I wish I would have ignored the so called self appointed expert VG-10 ain't good enough experts. The knife is pretty hard to come by now without paying allot for it. W...

Re: Para 3 Defect?

Sounds like you have some lock stick.
Usually some pencil lead on the lock interface works until it breaks in. Probably why the guy passed it on. I’ve had some with lock stick and it will go away with some use.

Re: Why is having the blade drop closed such a big deal?

I agree with jazz. In the middle is best.
My cruwear para 3 has no resistance. Drops like a guillotine. The blade actually bounces off the stop.
It’s one of the reasons I don’t use that one much. Reminds me to tighten it. Been too lazy to fix that.

Re: Ideas for "sprint runs", NOT concerning steel (let´s dream...)

I like the chap. The blade is a little thin for my taste and wish the handle was a little bigger. We know Taichung can make a superb back lock. I just want more options. Chap with a thicker blade and bigger handle would look a lot like a Native, wouldn't it? Not to me. I have 2 problems with the na...

Re: Ideas for "sprint runs", NOT concerning steel (let´s dream...)

I want a nice Taichung back lock. The only back lock for Taiwan that I can think of is the chaparral. Just to get you right: You mean, you want more Taichung backlock knives, but you do not mean you feel the existing Taichung backlock is not nice enough, right? For I think the Chap backlock alongsi...

I’m thinking of a domino, lose the flipper, use a back lock. Add a bolster and polished g10.

Lil temperance 3 with thinner blade and a little more point to it. Would be like a choil-less para3.

Re: Which Spyder folder is the toughest; will take the most abuse?

The Native 5 G10 with the liners is the toughest thing they make currently. It's built like a tank. I doubt you could hurt it except if you really tried to under extreme circumstances. Yeah, except for the blade. Let my dad borrow mine this summer and he chipped the blade bad by prying staples out ...

Have we seen a light weight caly?
Seems like a new model to me.
Closest thing would be the ukpk, which would make a sense for a golden build.

Re: February EDC Challenge

Hmm. Things are not going well. Today I was trying to cut open a wrapped pallet of stainless steel parts, and ended up accidentally sawing my knife edge against the steel. Now about two-thirds of the entire edge is dulled to the point where it can't even cut copier paper. My knives don't have...

it's bad enough smashing your edge Connor but hows the plate? :p

I was expecting a cleaner cut through that plate. Maybe it was all the cardboard that dulled it.
