Re: Opinions Wanted: Top 5 Best Spydercos
This is nearly impossible as some true gems will be overlooked. But here goes. For true hard use (construction on the house) I could go with either the manix or pm2 in s110v. They both work well with gloves and can cut and cut and cut, Even in truely abrasive materials. I tend to lean toward the pm2...

Re: If you could give any Spyderco the Cruwear / Micarta treatment.....
I want to throw one more pipe dream in the mix.
The lil Persian. It has a nice handle, thin blade, and it a nice alternate to the chaparral. Not sure these sold very well but it would make an excellent gents folder with micarta.

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
So should I just give up trying to get a couple of these? Honestly the crazy hunt for these sprints is becoming tiring. Why doesn’t Spyderco and these random exclusive dealers just make enough for everyone? Or at least make SOME more? It’s getting incredibly frustrating and tiring to learn of a new...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?
I think that I really have to thank Spyderco. They seemed to dribble these out in small quantities spread over several weeks. I don't know if this was intentional, but if so, I think it was clever because it gave everyone who wanted one many chances -- and here I am as happy as a clam. IIRC, the Ca...

Re: Any CTS-XHP knives comming up
Foundry used xhp as well as the excellent cutlery shoppe para 3 and pm2 exclusives.
The foundry is discontinued and can be found if you look hard enough. I would expect a para3 lightweight from cutlery shoppe soon.

Re: I love the Sharpmaker
I agree. The sharpmaker just works. Enjoy using it. Get results thatmake me feel like I’m legit or something. Sadly, I don’t think I can get the gf to do any set up. She uses, gasp, a pull through sharpener. Would a golden stone be a possibility for her kitchen? Think I should try that and see if it...

Re: NFL Season: 2019-2020
Garappolo showed he could throw the ball tonight, because their run game wasn't very effective. This 49ers team is VERY dangerous!! Typically run the ball well, throw well with Kittle and the new addition of Sanders, clearly a very solid defense. They have to be the top NFC team, though I saw their...

Re: The big Unplug
In Two years before the mast, Richard Henry Dana talks about sailing up the California coast in 1834. When he gets to Santa Barbara it was clear to him that there had been a massive fire that burned all the way to the beach. He talks about the crazy strong fall winds to the point that they took spec...

Re: The big Unplug
All is well in my area. Power went out Saturday night. Spent a warm night sitting on my girlfriend deck eating a nice meal and drinking cold beer. No wind in my area which is funny as her deck blows like crazy all summer. Wind picked up by Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon the grocery stores opened u...

The memory also has some filework on it. I did some filework on some mules. Don’t have the photos here. Will try to post some later. It’s hardened steel so diamond files will probably be necessary. That’s what I used. It goes slow. You can free hand it or plan ahead, make a template and sharpie the ...

Re: Rosewood shaman and CITES treaty
From the Taylor guitars website... “Effective January 2, 2017, CITES import or export permits are required for commercial trade across international borders of Dalbergia in all its forms. This includes raw materials, parts, and guitars with any Dalbergia part on it. So this means not only a guitar w...

The big Unplug
Hey any California friends, my power is scheduled to go off in half an hour.
Got some cold beers, my girl, and a great view ready for the great unplug. Enjoy the adventure and see you on the other side. Warm air and high winds are coming. Be safe friends.
No baseball for this kid tonight!

Well if it’s dymondwood then there is no rosewood in it. As far a I can tell that stuff is birch, dye, and resin. Details are limited so far.

Re: We are saved! Baseball Season is here!
Radio guys this morning said that the Nats has a terrible start with a record of 17-30 or something like that. They had to figure out their bullpen. Since then, they are actually one game better than the astros. Sometimes perception can be misleading.

Re: Rosewood shaman and CITES treaty
Wow, I hadn't heard about this. So I guess it applies to rosewood that's been treated/processed as well as to the raw wood? What's the issue - is there concern about pest or blight contamination or something? As far as I know, it started with Brazilian rosewood, which is the most highly prized wood...
