Have you tried removing one of the two detent balls? I initially thought the detent too strong as well. Finger hurt from trying to wear it in in the hopes it will improve. But it got to a point when I realised my finger would probably be worn down first. Removed one detent and voila! Went from worst...

How about a folding variant of D. H. Russell Canadian Belt Knife? I have always loved the shape and how the belly of the blade clears the knuckles in use... Definitely would get one if Spyderco reissues it... rare in secondary market and prices are often astronomical...

Not that it should stop anyone from wanting to try it, but I just realized Cowry-X is basically Daido's version of ZDP-189 (Hitachi). For some reason I never made the connection until now. I have seen comparisons of the chemistry and I am no expert. But my limited experience seems to suggest to me ...

I hope that Cowry X is still in the running... with the translucent blue of the manix LW would be amazing!

Thanks MacLaren for the K390 update. The hues are still there... but subtler... I like it! The 52100 is proving to be a pretty patina platform though... Wondering if you might have tried Superblue for comparison...
