Re: Official 2020 Discontinued List

Lost my loved, treasured, cherished D'allara 3 last summer (Southern Hemisphere) and have sulked a bit since, house sale and purchase and big mortgage limiting $ and effort for knives. out of the blue I decided to jump on the search this morning, and found it on the discontinued. urgency and a disco...

Re: Smock Flipper

the double detent on the release button is a very good addition, I've had issues with customs in NZ and I wouldn't be trying to import a knife which when you pressed a "button" the blade could fall free. This is now my most anticipated knife, hopefully before Christmas!

I'm having the darnedest time choosing between the leaf and the sheep.

I have decided on PE.
funny thing since I first saw pictures I wanted the sheepsfoot, but now I'm on the fence. 2 really nice options

PD1 mule

End of summer and I finally got a break in workload to allow a week off, got some gardening done, got into the garage - sorted out fishing lures and cleared my work bench ... and found the mule team PD1 which has been sitting round for a few months with a boltaron sheath waiting for "project&qu...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2018 Report

speaking of importing, I'd be nervous as to how customs here in NZ would treat the Smock, "its got a button on it, must be auto??" - guess in time I'll just have to find out!!

Re: Yeah Yeah another Southard thread...

Wanted to go back in time and get a feel for the hype that the Southard entered the world with, so I choose to bump this thread and add some of my thoughts about the Southard (and the influence of the forum on my thoughts!). I think about 3 years ago I purchased my Southard, at the time I believe it...

Re: D'Allara 3 feedback

5 months in and the D'Allara 3 has been my edc for work since it arrived. these are a few of my thoughts, I like the lock. Just as it is. I can manipulate the ball to open or close the blade one handed - this is a lot of fun, I think more so than the axis lock although similar. the axis will rebound...

Re: Spyderco Caribbean: Will it change everything?

Caribbean sheepsfoot must be so close to a D'Allara in hand, I haven't compared the measurements but by eye from the catalogue they leave a similar shadow.

its amazing just how many knives Spyderco has in the upcoming list, there are many many good designs / steel combos in this thread.

recent - D'Allara and Tasman salt

next - Caribbean sheepsfoot and Rhino

Re: Change in Sharpmaker packaged stones

I also agree with much of the above advice. Having a sharpmaker is a great way to learn how to free hand sharpen - paradox? Freehand I find sometimes I am less than perfect (this is weird as some knives come off Norton really good and others I struggle to get to shaving), but so long as it finishes ...
