mid sized "gentleman" folder
So guys, I am looking for a new Spydie and need some guidance. I have smaller folders (Urban k390 and Dfly salt SE) and some larger users (pac Salt and millie in S90v). I am going to sell my Stretch 1 in ZDP and want to roughly flip that into a nicer gentleman folder. I was gonna try the manix LW S1...

I only fish 1-2 times a year, so this will be more of a camping knife that will see the occasional fish. But maybe this will make me fish more! Lance - I blame you for de...

Re: PE H1 for EDC - how long will it last?
This probably says more about my sharpening skills for a chisel grind then anything, but I just sharpened the 3/4 inch tip to my SE pac salt to a shave arm hairs (not split an atom sharp, there was a little pull when it shaves arm hair) And, I got about 5ft-6ft into cardboard and it stops shaving. I...

Re: PE H1 for EDC - how long will it last?
The tip of my H1 SE Pac salt will hold shaving sharp for about 2-3 seconds before a mild wind wears down the edge. Seriously, after cutting a foot of cardboard it will not shave. Maybe that is just the difference with a single bevel compared to a normal PE double bevel?

Re: What Could Profoundly Improve The 204 Sharpmaker?
If the sharpmaker rods could be doubled or triple in size (width) that would be great to make reprofiling faster. That means more expensive, but that would be great

Re: Medium Bench Stone
it is truly flat, well, any good ideas on how to do that exactly? Besides the eyeball test and running a few blades up and down? You can take a steel ruler on edge, same for a square, or place it on a flat piece of glass and check to see if there are gaps or if light shines through underneath with ...

Re: First free hand sharpening
Pics... And other thoughts. It is shaving sharp, but not quite next level scary sharp. I also tried to microbevel at 30 on the SM with the fine rods, but after 1-2 min the edge was much duller. I probably needed to start the micro on the brown (or even CBN?) rods first, then fine, and it probably wo...

First free hand sharpening
I finally got a few bench stones and after practicing on junk knives I did my first reprofile free hand on a Spydie. pics are coming next of my set up. My goal was for 25d inclusive. I’m not sure if I went that steep or not but it seems close. The dmt xcoarse is a beast! My dmt coarse was bought use...

Re: Medium Bench Stone
I will inspect it more pure flatness. What I could fix was 1 gouge, maybe 1 cm long, and on the edges of the gouge that it was raised. Brown triangle rod made quick work of it. There is still a faint gouge mark, but the raised edges are now flat. I will check the stone to make sure it is truly flat,...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?
Bloke - I have never owned or even handled a Phil Wilson designed knife, so I am super pumped to be able to get a feel for his designs with a cheap sub $35 knife. 8cr13MOV - ya, super budget. But, I want to get a feel of the ergos, blade geo, etc.

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives
Peel Ply CF for $220 seems steep to me. $150 for G10 would be preferred. I already got the KW RIL Millie CF/Ti - and it is stunning! In my pocket right now, and for $200 that seems like a great deal.

Re: Medium Bench Stone
Well, since I am fiddler - I took my triangle brown rod, the corner, and tried to even out the gouges. To be honest, it worked pretty well. That side is not 100% perfect, but I can glide a blade over smoothly now. I will fiddle a bit more and maybe I can save a trip to UPS and make it work

Re: Medium Bench Stone
One side of the stone seems pretty flawless. Do you think I will need or want the other side down the road? If not, I will just keep it. But, if using that other side will come in handy then I will follow your recommendation

Medium Bench Stone
My first spyderco bench stone came in today. Medium stone. I ordered it from the evil Amazon! But, the stone has one very smooth side, but the other side has 1-2 small gouges. Running the knife blade over them gives you that cringy feeling like nails on a chalk board. What is a good way to smooth ou...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2019 Report
The Endela looks great! Maybe I will grab a sprint run later on. Any guesses on the final cost for the K390 Police? Sub $150 would be awesome! Am I dreaming?
We should start a pickem pool - winner gets a free K390 Police :) :)
My guess, $138
